ATI remove DX 9.0 features in 9600Pro?

Besides the pipes that were cut out and the memory, did ATI disable any DX 9.0 features in the card?

Someone mentioned on Rage3d that they removed the f-buffer and half the shaders. does this mean HL2 will look better on the 9800 because it has these features??
Im worried now :(

Im not sure, but maybe those shitty LITE versions (from Gigacube, you know, the $US100 one)with half the normal clockspeeds might have watered down DX9 - highly unlikely though.
 
It has fewer shaders, but that just works against performance, not features. You will be just fine, don't worry, the game shouldn't look any better on any other fully compliant DX9 card save for differences aloud by performance.
 
They better not do that. But I could so imagine them cutting DX 9 features to milk the 9700/9800 sales for HL2 and D3.
 
I get the impression from ATI, Valve, Hardware sites, and different boards, that you can't experience HL2 unless you run a 9800Pro.
