ATI to make Half-Life 2 announcement today

Half life 2 has become anew religion.We all sit around saying how thelast so called miracle (announcement) was so crap, but get totally enthused and built up when the next one seems imminent. Next time, I won#'t get built up for good news.

Yeah right ;)


Oh and Iconoclast...not a common name... ever work for the NHS?
 
Is that card good?I'm looking for a decent graphics card on a budget,and that looks good...

BTW the inquirer only said that ATI was going to make a statement regarding HL2 and ATI. You obviously thought it was going to have more to do with HL2 (release date or something) than ATI (bundled cards w/voucher)...You misread what they reported.

But it's more an announcement regarding Half-Life. The only link to HL2 is that you get the HL premiere pack by registering your HL2 key. This isn't really a big HL2 announcement in and of itself. The way they phrase that opening line implies something larger, regardless of whether they meant it that way (which they likely did).
Hopefully ATi’s statement will include an actual date they will start shipping Half-Life 2, and frankly, it's about time the company put its customers concerns to rest

This line also puts the thought in most peoples' heads that they'll get big news (possibly of the release date) out of this "special" Inquirer-only scoop.

Similar to the VALVe / Newell HLRadio interview, this was more hype than big news.

I know it's just the author's own speculation, but you have to look at it in context with the entirety of the article itself. Come on, the whole thing is phrased to sound like major Half-Life 2 news is coming and that isn't the case. Don't know what you mean when you say, "the same idea as you and wishful thinking," though, I knew their intial article wouldn't lead to anything. Truth be told, I can't technically fault them for saying they hope there'll be a HL2 release date, it's not their problem if people mistakenly get a notion in their heads off what The Inquirer wrote. I only take issue with how they wrote the whole thing because it is, for most people, misleading and I hate to see that.
 
Well it is at a tech site and the people who normally read that are not waiting for HL2 with every breath...:)

Point taken, still, The Inquirer's Half-Life 2 news has been awfully shaky at best. Then again, that's what we have HL2 sites for I guess. :D
