I don't see how ATi owners specifically could be the first, as anyone could sign up at their site and lie about their graphics card...

Besides that, I highly doubt there will be a demo for HL2. Maybe they'll be releasing the benchmark or something.

no this is just for a thing for the 9800xt card, becuase the game will be bundled with it.

I would guess it has something to do with their new cards coming out soon. Info on release date, specs, or maybe something about the HL2 bundle.

then y would it say "be the first to experience" since by the time the bundle comes out so will the game.

it reads: "Be one of the first .... etc"
This bassicly means that if you buy a new card bundled with hl2 you'll be able to playing it the moment you get the card and don't have to wait in the store for hl2.
Thing is offcourse that if there's no cue infront of the hl2 rack there's no real advantage.

I reckon it's just a competition, a lottery. They draw your name and you win a free preview of HL2 or even a free copy of HL2.

Ati users aren't going to get the game before the rest of the world. That is ludicris. Not 50 cent.

notice how it said "be the first to experience the game of the year at the speed of radeon" if you don't have a ATi card, you won;'t be experiancing it at the speed of a radeon.

but then it would b pointless for that banner

luda all the way 50 is a hoe,

Popular rap culture references aside, it has long been known that HL2 in some form will be shipped with the 9800XT, whether it'll arrive before the game itself is completely unknown.

at the speed of radeon

If you need more explanation, I'll be glad to hit you with the obvious stick.

I still have my bets on a lottery of some sorts, which involves one lucky guy winning something nice and shiny, could be HL2, could be 9800XT, could be polished shoes, who knows?

This is exactly it. Its marketing, and its pulling a lot of you in.

THERE WILL NOT BE A PLAYABLE DEMO UNTIL AFTER THE GAME IS AVAILABLE

youv'e looked way too closely into a poorly worded marketing statement.

it doesnt mean an early ati release nor is it meant to dupe you into it.

I agree, IF there is a demo which is highly doubtable...everyone will get it at the same time

Back to rap culture references: That banner is simply marketing strategy all up in yo hizzy, biatch!

It seems to me that there is nothing left to debate, and this thread is dead.

Fo shizzle, dawg.

Gasp...what if the 9800XT only has a HL2 cdkey...and you have to go through Steam!
lol

goddamn... you kids are gullible.. do you believe every thread that is created?

Look at my sig and come to grips with the truth!

So is that guy like... officially banned or somthing? Cuz it says banned under his name... lol.

Its so simple really. A lottery. Many sites have it. Take part and you could win a 9800XT shipped with HL2. But noooo... There have to be conspiracy theories about ATI users getting a demo, or even a beta :dozey:

hmm never know it will probably be delayed but you never know it could be a scam to get people to buy the new ati just so you get half life 2, in that case there is going to be alot of rips.....

monkey

Bah , I'm no Nvidia or ATI fanboy but it's pretty obvious the ATI is making deals with Valve about how the game runs on their cards and no Nvidias. I mean, it's very, VERY suspicious... which is why I can't wait to get my Radeon card in a month of two.

So I guess your suspicious of how Ati is making deals with Eidos to make Angel of Darkness perform slowly in DX 9, too?

It also must be suspicious that Ati is paying off Microsoft to make the GF FX cards run slowly in Halo as well. Because it is common knowledge that Ati has so much more money than Microsoft!

And is Ati making deals with John Carmack on Doom 3 even though it is already being admittadly optimised for the Geforce FX?

Or could there just be a tiny shred of possibility that Geforce FX cards don't perform well in true DX 9 applications? Naaaah! That is just tooooo boring lets stick to the conspiratory Ati is just paying EVERYONE with and endless river of cash.

No, no, no, ATI made a deal with Valve

Well whether you want to follow the conspiracy or not, here's the facts:
ATI made a deal with Valve to release the game with their video card (9800TX to be released at a later date)
ATI was the first video card to support DirectX 9.0

In my opinion, ATI is winning against Nivida anyways. So with ATI's deal with Valve, it will the ATI video card specs on the box when its finally released. Apparently, from what I heard you'll need at least a 9600 to play the game with the full eye candy it's meant to be.

So I think it's a contest, there will probably be a few winners that will win the package of the 9800TX with Half-Life 2. But since there is no news on the ATI site, guessing is the only way.

Plus, in Canada, ATIs newest cards are already like $500. So I damn hope I win this. Cause if I don't, I'll just buy the cheaper ATI card for about $150 or so. That's my only beef with ATI, their latest cards are too expensive.
