I'd like to upgrade my sound to something that's not integrated for once, and I'm at a loss at which to choose.

Is the extra $20 for the OEM Audigy 2 ZS worth it? What exactly would I be missing?

Basically, I just want some buying advice.

Also, for those who own one of the above cards, is there any way to tell the driver where your speakers are and have it adjust volume settings accordingly? That would be extremely useful.

Thanks all :)

yes there is a 3d postioninong system in the ZS drivers

you can specify the angle from the degault point they are aswell as the distance away from you the speaker is and you can adjust the volume to that speaker to satisfy you,

Also has a wizard to do it

Tho i canyt tell you how decent the sound out[ut in 7.1 is cos i hant got 70 quid together for it yet

Tho with my Philips sbc head phones the sound is great

I have the Audigy 2 ZS Plat, excellent card all round. :)

Only problem I have is with Half-life engine based games (not quake or Quake 2 though :|) is that the sound just cuts out after a while of play or just refuses to play :(

Hey Joims, thanks alot for the info :)

[w0f]Oblivion,
thanks for the advice, but I'm still going to go with Creative.
The Audigy 2 supports up to EAX 4, and I've heard Turtle Beach's Linux support isn't top notch. Considering that I'm a linux newbie and have only just received a distro, I don't want to have to fight with my sound to get it working.

Anyway, I think I'll be going with the ZS, thanks all for your input! :)
