Audiophiles! How much are these worth?

It's a pair of BOSE headphones. I'm not entirely sure about them too much. They were purchased for around $125 a few years ago. The are still in great shape, sound good and everything works *I guess they were replaced 2 years ago, as the plug got ripped out...*.

So my question is, what would you realistically pay for these?

Best speakers I've ever heard were Bose, but they were from like the 1980's or something. Mind blown, can not leave the sweet spot on the couch until music ends.

I don't know if they make shit now; apparently.

I think they just have a reputation for being rather expensive and marketing themselves as EXTREME AUDIOPHILE BEST SPEAKERS EVER when they're probably just pretty good speakers with a lot of sound designing and psychoacoustic work put into them to make them sound real good. Which pisses off proper audionerds.

Yes, I think you are right. And indeed, they are very expensive.

I was just thinking that 5.1 really did them in as far as showing their strengths. I think perhaps they realized they could sell little dinky 5.1 cube speakers set for $1000, and only like $90 in materials and shipping - compared to shipping those massive floorspeakers with solid wood and six 8" woofers in each of them.

Also the WaveRadio. They wanted to make things smaller and smaller. I personally didn't want to pay big for 'big sound' from something small. I wanted something massive that sounds massive - like a rock concert, not an amazing sounding alarm clock.

Then again, my parents have a similar model cd player in their rather sparse, minimal living room; it's small, unobtrusive, and is quite loud enough and bassy enough for the space. So, quite functional, but also very expensive.

I am sorry but those headphones are overpriced even at $75. Research them and see for yourself.

You can find far better for much less.
JVC's HARX700 and HARX900 or Audio Technica's ATH-AD700, which is a bit more expensive but true Audiophile Headphones.

Well, I've been researching, trying to track down the speakers I've always talked about in these Bose threads.

I've narrowed it down to the 601 series II or series III. I cannot remember which one. (As I remembered it, it doesn't exactly match either, but it's been 18 years, so I probably just forgot)

Anyway, you can probably pick up a pair of either for like $300, since they are so old. Really incredible sound.

I can't find a cutaway of the 601, but, for example, this is the type of thing they do:

for $75 you can get a pair of Sennheiser HD428's which sound really nice if you pair them with a amp.

To be honest, I find Bose's psychoacoustic fetish absolutely fascinating. I've got no real problem with them, only with their pricetags.
