hello i am new and i want to ask... do you think the auto updates are annoying? yes or no?

Are you kidding? What's so fun about spending 10 minutes searching on the internet for the latest patch, spend 30 minutes downloading it then another 5 *or 30 if you're a BF2 patch* installing? This does it for you, and you don't have to worry about anything. Only thing I could see it giving an issue is with the hacks not working on that version *though I'm sure they are seamless*

No they are not. Get faster internets, if faster internets are not available then bad luck.

They are a necessity, and FAR more convenient for players. As mentioned above...no worries about finding a patch and installing. It's done before you know it. If you don't want your game to update, you can turn it off in the properties by telling Steam to 'not keep this game updated', but...you won't be able to play online with an outdated version ;)

I love auto-updates. They've spoiled me...

No, auto updates are great, a good way to update your games without you noticing until you move your mouse over the steam sign and go...'OMG, TF2 Update :D' then you go and find out what it is, then you want to go and investigate the change.

All in all, great :bounce:

Auto updates are great. Beats the hell out of searching around online for the latest patches.

Autoupdates are the shiznit.

They were only annoying back when Steam was new. Then most people were still running 56k and every patch created ten new holes, that is that every fix created a bunch of new bugs.

Was the "NO" purposeful, because it was very inticing...

Huh I think only pirates hates auto-updates.

I voted yes.

Necessary? Yes. More convenient than normal patches? Yes.

But they're still annoying.

I had 56k. It sucked.

I love the options on this poll. The simple 'yes', and then the defensive, even angry NO!

Polarise voters much?

It seems to have worked. There's a landslide for people liking Steam's Auto Updates.

They've actually gotten worse for me, for some reason. I really like the fact that I don't have to go out and look for patches, but when updates come alone recently, they just sit at 0% for hours before finally downloading.

I love the autoupdates and would be thrilled if Microsoft allowed/required every game to add itself to 'Microsoft Update' and get updated automatically every day.

Microsoft can't make updates for they OS, so don't dream about game updates.

That might be a client-side problem. You can try pausing/resuming the download, or contact Steam Support if you have any more problems.

Well... Thanks for Voting... seems like you all like Auto Updates... thing is. SO DO I. Lets all say this. STEAM FTW

It is one of the features that brings me to Steam to buy my games. No more searching for updates for my games is excellent.

What, It updates I thought it was just the awesome leaking onto my computer.

Imagine trying to keep up with all those patches manually... other games seem so, eh, primitive now with their 'update' link that takes you to their corporate website where you have to navigate to the support area, download, and install the patch.
