Auto weapon switch

Hi, does anyone know how to switch off the auto weapon switch feature in Half-Life 2 deathmatch?

It's getting on my nerves.

That option only appears in CS Source. In HL2 the only options you get there are fast weapon switch and enable console. Isn't there a console command for this?

Switch to a weapon if you pick it up for the first time and it's better than the current one.

Yeah looks like nobody knows. I'm thinking that stupid Valve haven't even put an option to turn it off. If that's true, it's the first FPS where auto weapon switch is always on.

Once I was backing off to throw a grenade, I moved over the shotgun and it swiches automatically and gets me killed. All these HL2 updates and they still haven't included this option.

EDIT: It does work, thanks a lot. When the game first came out I asked this question and nobody knew the answer.
