Avatar: FernGully 2: Pocahontas Dances With Smurfs In Space In 3D On Ice

I don't care what other people say; I am really excited about this movie. I love the visuals and the storyline.

Holy mother of God... That movie looks to be made of pure win.

From what I've seen in the trailers this isn't the kind of movie I would expect from James Cameron. I always like in his action movies that he used CGI sparingly, mixed with genuine organic effects, making for a realistic and gritty feel.

Now after so much time he comes with an overly hipped, overly colorful, CGI acid trip of a movie.

What I find hilarious is that he means the story to be taken seriously, yet the aliens look like cartoonish blue elves.

As for the actual story... Oh noes teh evil humans are killing the poor aliens to steal their natural resources. Oh, brother.
The obvious parallel between this story and early american history also bothers me.

Yup, the aliens are very off-putting to me as well. It doesn't matter how amazing and groundbreaking your CGI is, if the focus of the scene doesn't even look like it's meant to represent reality, it's missing the point

From what I saw from the preview the Na'vi feel very real and 3-Dimensional (in a character sense) they dont look cgi at all, I think this is because its actually a actor behind them like with gollum except this time they also capture the facial motion aswell. Also the movie really pulls you in with they added dimension (and now im actually talking about the 3D effect ;) ).

My one complaint is that there should have been some sort of audio change when he said "and they're very hard to kill."

showed too much if you ask me...still want to see it but i wish they left more of the plot out of the trailer

This is the first I've heard of this film as far as I know. For some reason I thought this was the Bruce Willis film where everyone has a robot to control.

Anyway, from a purely visual standpoint, this film looks amazing. The story sounds a bit cheesy, but I'm hoping that won't turn me off.
I hope you all feel better informed of my opinion.

lame, lame, lame...well i mean, the aliens are a total turn off for me. the whole time i felt like watching an animated film like final fantasy or a cartoon. the plot is also too clique.

all in all...i'm gonna watch this movie for the action scenes and visuals, everything else is just very predictable. kinda disappointed really, it felt like the last episode of Star Wars...over the top cartoony action. is it PG-13?

and most of all....i ****ing hate scenes where the main hero makes a blind jump from a 1000 feet in an attempt to look cool and hardcore. like at 2:10 of the trailer.

I'll still see it but I think both of the trailers for this movie are ****ing stupid

Wow, that trailer was terrible. What a generic and cliched piece of trash.

This looks like one of the most cliched and terrible movies to date.

Awww you're both so cute I could just hug you both to death!! Such a sweet couple.

i never ****ing though i'd even partially agree with you on something. obviously the world is coming to an end.

Alternatively you're starting to see reason, and developing a sense of taste - a kind of enlightenment, as it were.

I think it will be a while yet before we see signs of intelligence

Join us atop our ivory castle while we throw rotten food at the ridiculous peasants.

Tempting, but I'm against ivory poaching. It just wouldn't work.

As for the trailer and Avatar it still just looks to me like a spectacular film with a cliched story. I'll probably try to see it in 3D in an IMAX to make the most of what will probably be its sole redeeming features.

Yeah it looks like an incredibly cliched story but at least that trailer was much better than the first. I'll still hold judgment until I see it though.

I think it will be entertaining, but storywise I'm not expecting much.

Your 45th viewing of that artful masterpiece Lost in Translation awaits.

You can't resist the confused American girl in Japan.

So utterly fascinating, deep and unique.

Utterly. Original.

Masterpiece.

This looks like The Last Samurai with Cat people.

I'll probably see it for VFX alone though.

Close-up on Ken Watanabe as he lay dying in Tom Cruise's arms
Ken Watanabe said:
It's......bleautiful....
Ken Watanabe coughs up blood and some hair, then dies.

Can we please campaign Jim Cameron to make "The Last Cat-Samurai" as his next film

I like how you have to attack Samon's taste in other movies because there is absolutely no way you can defend Avatar. The CGI doesn't look that great. The art style is bland. The story barely exists, and what's there lacks any originality whatsoever.

You might be too stupid to see the appeal of Lost in Translation, but surely you can appreciate that it's far more original and special than this pile of garbage.

At least this is something different then the usual crap that Hollywood pumps out, I wouldn't be so fast to make a judgment on a movie you haven't even seen.

The CGI doesn't look that great.

I'd say it's above LoTR in terms of the Navi. The walkers etc look a bit meh, but the rest of it looks pretty impressive. Shallow as the rest of the movie might be, I think it's probably one of those cinematic experiences in the same vein as Jurassic Park was. Simply because it's commercial doesn't necessarily make it bad.

That was the point I was trying to make in my first post

I'd say it's above LoTR in terms of the Navi.

Yeah it's also more than 6 years later. It should look better. I don't consider "on time graphical updates" to be anything special.

Golum looked more realistic than the Navi...

Above everything what really bothers me is this over stylized, over saturated look they are going for. If it was just a few movies here and there that aimed for this art direction it wouldn't bother me, but now it seems that EVERY sci-fi or action movie that uses CGI has to look like this... :|

So... this is basically Ferngully only with guns and stupid looking bluedudes rather than demonized chainsaws and forest faries? And also shit instead of awesome?

Certainly won't be watching this in theaters.

Looks completely ridiculous, but I'm gonna see it just cause it's IMAX 3D. Popcorn flick.

I dunno about where you are, but IMAX tickets are stupidly expensive in my hometown. Something like, 13 bucks for one ticket. Nooo thanks.
