avatar problems

i have made my own avatar on paint (it just says suicide42, but i like it). But when i try to use the image it doesnt work.
i have made the file a jpg file (by saving it as Suicide42.jpg) and the file is definately the right size (it is 44X45 pixels i think). Yet when i browse its location and click save changes it says "The uploaded file is not a valid GIF, JPG, or PNG file. Please ensure that it is and try again."
i have tried saving the image as a .gif .jpg and .png file, but nothing works.
i have attatched the image to this post.
can anyone help?

p.s. oviosly, i am a n00b to this forum and i dont know if there is a place to post technical problems like this, but i saw a simmilar thread in this forum so i posted it here.
