I am unable to update my virus definitions on AVG 7.0. I have tried manually from their website but it times out everytime. I get this error when I try from the actual program:
Internet connection has failed. Please check your internet connection settings.

I am running ZoneAlarm but I have it set to allow the AVG update.

Please help.

Yeah me too, problem with there server methinks.

I left it for 30mins and it finally downloaded a 500kb update

Mine still is not working. Can someone help me out on this? I am still unable to manually download the update from their website.

Had the same trouble, So after fruitless attempts, I ditched AVG, and now use AVAST anti-virus.
Its free as well, more thorough than AVG, it picks up trojans and worms too, which most anti virus miss, e.g. Norton is supposed to be one of the best (lol) but it missed the 12 Backdoor Trojans on my friends system that AVAST found.
Try it here..the updates are quick too.

I'll stick with AVG as it's done an awesome job for me, I'm pretty sure Grisoft will fix this problem with their servers soon.

AVG discontinued updates for it's free users. AVG still provides updates for licensed users. More info can be found at their website, www.grisoft.com

no, that's for avg 6.0. We're talking about 7.0. I am having the update problems too.

i can still get updates (im on a 56k) but it takes for ever to "recieve answer.'

I think ill go with Avast

Does AVG update from this akamai site for you guys too? It seems to go alot faster from Akamai than it did from grisoft's servers. The updates are the same MD5 checksum as the ones from the website / manual updates / so I don't believe someone hacked my AVG program - perhaps they switched to an Akamai server.
