AvP3

and there's a DLC for 8 bucks, lol. shame, alien series didn't deserve this. hopefully, gearbox will release a solid game.

Gee, i wonder why?

Well it's certainly nothing to do with bad sales since it's still in the top ten best selling games this week. Nothing to do with the games quality either, since it's a good game.

Hurr, TF2 was once $2 and SFIV was $14. Are you going to call those bad games too?

:dozey: Really? That team had nothing to do with AVP, they made Rogue Warrior and I'm not surprised they did close 'em, but I gotta say that was a cheap shot TwwIX.

No. I Am just calling it like it is. I suggest that you reread that again.

It's a shit game. Hence the sudden price drop.

I see you sidestepped my post entirely.

In any case, that's just like, your opinion, man.

Hahaha, Darkside, you are really funny. It's like you are suggesting that TF2 and AVP3 go on sale for the same reasons.

Like, completely ignoring the fact that TF2 was 2 dollars about 2-3 years after it's release, because of it's great success as where AVP3 is going on sale only a month after it's release date for it's not so great success. Because like, you know, they need the money, but Valve doesn't; because they made a good game.

Silly Darkside Troll!

You do understand how successful this game has been right?

EDIT:- Shit, unintentional double post, sorry.

Stemot will defend AVP to death. It's best to just let it go.

Not all, I understand the game has problems, but stating the game has been reduced in price because it hasn't been successful is crap. The game has a multitude of mixed reviews though none of which has had a negative outcome on the game's sales so far.

I like the game and others don't for whatever reasons, I get that, but Twwix and ZT seem to have completely avoided any reports as to the commercial success of the game.

AVP still costs the same as it did on release over here in Sweden, across all platforms.

We don't have rental over here anymore, greedy game corporations lobbied together and made sure that it wasn't allowed because it was cutting in on their profits.

You guys really don't know how marketing works huh?

I have it on normal difficulty, and had more than one alien attack me at a time, although usually because I let myself get backed into a corner.

Is there a reason why the alien's immediate surrounding seems so washed? Is it so you can see yourself in dark corners? I'd rather just see shadow around myself (instead of having light all around you, but your reticle says you're hidden). That's how it was in AVP2, but there was no darkness mechanic to go with it.

Also, I think this game is super fun so far, and the aliens are hawt.

The effect is for the aliens to be able to see in complete darkness without having to switch over vision modes all the time ala AvP 2.

Wow...

Outside of the arguments of how successful this game is or how fun it might be (not a single one of my friends bought it), you have to admit charging $8 for a MAP PACK is bullshit. FOUR MAPS. That's just... I don't know what to say.

I mean I guess I have to go back to the fact that this isn't your "Everyone in the ****ing world is playing this" game, this is a game that had mediocre sales and is reviewed as mediocre. What makes them think SELLING four maps is a good move?

I know I said I'd get this game when the price dropped below $20, but now I don't even think I will considering they'll have another $20-$30 of map packs out by then. Starting to hate this nickel and diming crap developers and publishers are starting. I don't want to spend $100 to get the full game. And you know these maps weren't just magically made post-release.

Just wanted to rant on that for a minute.

Wow...
this is a game that had mediocre sales

Yet it was worldwide number one in the sales charts and the fastest selling game in the UK until BC2. Not bad for a game with mediocre sales.

Besides £5.00 for 4 new maps is quite reasonable when it's new content. Modern Warfare 2's DLC is is 3 times the price of that and two of their levels are direct ports from their previous game. As usual though it seems what's good enough for one isn't good enough for the other.

It's not the price it's the principle. Tons of games have maps released regularly for free, both official and unofficial. The amount of time invested in making a map is a fraction of the amount of work involved in creating the game or the tools for creating the map. Chances are they had these maps before they even launched the game but held them back in order to effective charge an extra $8.

Also, Selling a lot doesn't mean it's good. Selling a lot initially means they have a popular franchise and good advertisement/marketing. Price drops indicate fall off in sales. No publisher will ever allow prices to drop while sales are increasing or consistent. That is called giving away money. That's why the popular games of the day are still full price. Any game that has ever gone on sale ever has done so because the units being sold have gone decreased or stalled.

You tell me at which point I implied this. I was correcting your misinformation.

Wrong again. Left 4 Dead 2 has been a consistent seller on Steam yet they just had a 50% off day on the game. Deals and offers are promoted on games all the time, it doesn't mean all the time that the game is on offer due to bad sales.

Fact of the matter is plenty of games are selling their maps and DLC rather than giving them away. It's something you better get used to as it's not going away. Hell, £5.00 for 4 new maps, wether they held them back or not are better than some of the stuff other companies are charging for. Hell, Bioware have just had the audacity to charge for an outfit DLC which when you consider the stuff they have released for free is just madness, but I don't have to buy it if I don't want to and I'm certainly not going to get eaten up with the people who do.

God, I'm so tired of seeing this thread pop up again and again. Stop trolling stemot.

Trolling? I'm simply correcting the mistakes in his post. In fact, your last few posts in this thread have been nothing but trolling. If your sick of seeing the thread stop reading it.

There was no comma. I feel like people are trolling you.

Ooops, sorry :(. I'm done with this now anyway. It's just I like the game and like to talk about it. maybe I'll just keep talking about this game at AvPGalaxy and let this lie.

Why should you? You have a passion for the game, seems a lot of the naysayers are people who've dismissed the game offhand (imho), I liked the game myself, it has flaws, no one is denying that, but I enjoyed it, you enjoyed, why stop chatting about it?

That just silly in my opinion. Be passionate.
