one with no multiplayer or mods
one with mods and MP
one with other special bonus crap



i preordered half life 2 on may 17th so how the EFF am i supposed to know which one im gonna get? i want either the second or third version.

Youll get the version w/single player/MP, but not the collectors ed.

I was holding off my pre order until I got more information about the Special Edition anyway.

EDIT: Maybe you should cancel ring up and confirm. Not that the retailer will have any clue whatsoever about what's going on.

According to Gabe, even Valve doesn't know what's going on... It appears that Sept 30th is about to be a day of reckoning more then a release date for a much anticipated game. If the game ships on said date then my guess would be that it will be the single player only version.

Erm, where did Gabe say that Valve didn't know what was going on. They said they were fiddling with the plans. But the gist is there.

the bonus pak ok
-but a version whit and whitout mods, no i dont think so, not for world's nr1 online game for the next 4 years! (whel i hope valve can make it 1 and start on hl3 now )

The single player version sold in the shops will be cheaper.

It's for people with no intention of playing the game online.

Wraith if you need to know which version you ordered you should ask the shop from which you placed your order...

Where are people hearing there are going to be three versions? Sounds like a bogus rumor to me. There will be a regular edition and a collector's edition. The collector's edition will contain some stuff like a music CD or an art book or whatnot, but the actual game will be the same for both versions. You'll be paying extra for the goodies, not for additional game functionality.

Come on, folks, just think things a little before you decide you're going to believe every rumor that comes down the pike. If it really doesn't make sense (and Valve selling multiple code branches of Half-Life 2 certainly does not) then it's a good idea to just desregard the information.
