Why do some people think that G-Man and Alyx knew each other after seeing the new trailer?

To me, it just looks as if Alyx got injured and the G-Man took her body and gordon to his stasis so he could try and convince gordon that hes putting Alyx in danger and he should 'end it'. Hes obviously talking to gordon and telling him to stop his fighting.

It makes sense that Alyx should at least be aware of the GMan (and it would seem almost certain he'd know about her) - after all, it seems that the resistence hired Gordon's "services" from the GMan.

I see what you mean about him using Alyx as a bargaining chip with Gordon - "Do as I say and she'll be ok" sort of thing - maybe not to end his fighting, but to direct it at a new target.

I remember hearing that sound file ages ago (even before HL2 was released) and the full thing was:
"Cleverly done, Mr. Freeman. But, you're not supposed to be here. As a matter of fact, you're not. Go back to where you belong and forget about all this. Until we meet again..."
As you say it's obviously directed at Gordon, but in what sense?

Not that they're not the most reliable source, but according to the recent PC Gamer podcast Alyx knows Gman and Gman knows Alyx and that they indeed have a connection.

chi what's your basis for saying the resistance hired him? i know about the 'highest bidder' quote, but what could the resistance offer the gman? i doubt he wants money and they don't seem to have much.

Lets split it in half, then the line...."Forget about all this."

When see "All this." I think "Forget about Alyx.".


'Forget all about alyx', How do I know? Well...Gordon & an unconcious alyx is in stasis with the G-man....But when G-man walks in he says "Your not supposed to be here ." but when he says that you dont see his face nor his body...all you see is his shadow. Only until G-man says "Forget about all this." do you see his face & it is that part of the quote that he means "Forget about Alyx."

The Gman never helps, he uses people. He used Black Mesa scientists to start the portal storm, then he observed the reactions and selected Freeman. He sent him to City 17 to start the revolution against the Combine. During this time he observed Alyx and certainly decided to use her too secretly.
The Vorts certainly know him and tried to keep Freeman far from his influence. So he needs a new puppet but this time he will not do it openly.
I think the Gman is a third party race trying to set a race against another to harvest something we still don't have a clue!!
He likes to smell the ashes of destroyed civilisations, so he can build new ones, that will better suit his needs.
You send the plague upon earth, then you come with the cure and everyone will follow you!

Look at it this way....When you hear G-man walk in you see his shadow, But you Don't see Himself & you don't see his face when he says "Your not supposed to be here." Do you? No you dont.


G-man does'nt need Alyx. For a person thats scared shitless when she see's a stalker & shows human feelings...Why would G-man show interest in her if she showed signs of weakness. G-man wants a person that's fearless, a survivalist, a Warrior, a person that can fight against all odds & win...I don't think G-man is interested in Alyx as she does not have "Limitless Potental."


G-man want's a winner, not a weakling. I cannot make myself any more clearer. G-man will not make alyx into one of his clients, as it is farfeched.

and that is a very narrow minded assumption, there could be hundreds of reasons why the gman wants to manipulate alyx.

IMO he's probably referring to her being in the stasis world, she's 'not supposed to be there', only gordon is, but the vautigaunts took her there to keep her safe. this also ties in with the new picture of her being carried by one.

She has no qualities...like Dr. Gordon Freeman & I say it....Adrian Shepherd. Does she have what it takes to "Adapt & Survive against all odds?"

He wont use Alyx because she talks too much, she gets scared in the face of danger, & shows human feelings.....We don't know if she is even alive?

Well she doesn't get scared in the face of danger as such, I mean she is brave and will be scared but gets on with it anyway, but there are limits to what she can take definately, whereas Gordon and Shepard could and can take almost anything the enemy throws at them constantly. G-Man making Alyx into a client is not only stupid but completely pointless as the G-Man first of all didn't even know of Alyx until she escaped death with the help of the Vorts and even know I really do not see why the G-Man would make her into a client.

The way I see it is that I think the G-Man is trying to find ways to gain control of Gordon again, and I think he will use Alyx to do just that

I think they could make a battle with the g-man be cool, they would just have to do it in the way you fought breen... he was just a man... but he was in his little protective bubble, and through other things at you. The same with the g-man, you could be chasing him, trying to kill him, while he keeps throwing little traps and things at you.

I dont think that the g-man and alyx have to have any relationship... i mean... you see the g-man giving the rocket launcher to that one army dude, and they were talking, but he never seems to mention him or anything. The g-man seems to be able to interact with people and things without them... knowing..

G-Man has the ability to trap you in stasis, casually walk by catastrophic explosions, warp in and out of reality, and disappear at a whim. What makes you think any kind of corporeal chase would take place? I just don't think any sort of "boss" fight would be feasible given his character.

Cubbage most probably does retain memory of the G-Man - I don't hold stock in any "mind altering" silliness. He just... didn't tell you. Much in the same way neither Eli or the Vortigaunts do.
