Hey everyone, new members won't know me, I'll be hazy to the veterans.
I've only posted a couple times and it has been a while...
Just trying this HL2/Source thing again.
I model with Max and I do not particularly like the hammer editor. It's
just not home to me, though it certainly is at least a familiar GUI
to some extent. However, through doing some more research (and finally,
though I can now ask as a more informed person, offering a better question,
I must do just that and throw up my hands, surf away from google, and
hope the community is more alive here now than it was for the week
I was was lurking before :x
I now know that to create content for source games, instead of an
exporter (like the dff/col esporters for GTA I am used to), I need to
export in some native format and compile in the command line source
compiler, a gui wrapper for said compiler, or perhaps a third party
compiler with better features?
Please correct me if I am wrong, because I have been feeding google
strings for months since I bought the HL2 special edition and
all I can turn up is keywords and a little bit of knowledge (which
as you can see, I am not entirely sure of.)
Using Max 9, How can I do two things (assuming Hammer is where I set
up entities and gameplay etc????)... These two things:
1: Export and Compile HL2/CS Source, HL2 DM ready maps? Ones that I can
just play in and work on, empty, lifeless, until the light is on
them and then the life is added thereafter?
2: Open my map exports in hammer sometime after leaving Max, but
before being compiled to the mod folder and played in order to
add life to them when it comes time to give my environment a purpose.
Thanks In Advance
, and I hope to find the information I need
to spend some time with you all and HL2
