I'm moving back onto my school's campus today, so I figured I could make a little discussion about what classes and other cool things members will be doing this Fall. Maybe we could all share dorm photos as well (does that sound lame? whatever).

I'm a Media Studies major going into my 3rd year, and I'm taking some film-oriented classes this semester, including: Making the Documentary, Screenwriting and Film Appreciation. On top of that, I am also taking a Writing the Editorial class and Japanese Culture class (I'm very excited for this one; the advertisement for this class had images of tons of anime movies and shows, including Paprika).

I'm also going to be writing for my school's paper, the USM Free Press.

In addition, my girlfriend and I are hoping to hold LAN parties in our dorm on a regular basis.

So....what are you doing this Fall?

Back to school...making my job busy as hell...I wish it was Summer again already.

freshmen year for me. all i know is i need to get a job and keep my marks up or shits gonna go bad.

Junior (3rd) year of uni for me. Just went back this week.

My schedule this year:

MUSC 145 - Introduction to Jazz
HIST 151 - History of Western Civilization I
PSYC 245 - Abnormal Psychology
RUSS 441 - From Decadence to Revolution: Russian Literature/Culture 1881-1945
RUSS 464 - Dostoevsky

Really enjoying this semester so far. I finally have moved out of the dorms to my own apartment with a couple of friends and it's been excellent throwing parties and generally being out from underneath the heel of The Man as represented by RAs and such.

Also, freshman honeys :naughty:

Third semester of Literature. So, will probably be writing an essay for the main part of this fall. Also will try to get drunk every now and then, and maybe get a job.

Second year for me, gonna study the B-course of political science. Should be pretty interesting, it's nice to get back to what feels like real university studies (German last semester was more like high school).

I don't think I could ever do the school thing again. I've been away for much too long.....I guess if I ever lose my job, and I have more free time I could try.

Bloody humanities students. You're all better off dead, every one of you!

**** returning students. they add 30-40 mins to my daily commute.

Just got done with Summer quarter, and am going into my second year:

AST 102 - Intro to Asian Studies
MUS 232 - Big Band
MUS 244 - 2nd Year Music Theory
MUS 287 - Marching & Concert Band
MUS 264D - Applied Single-reed instruction (sax lessons)
(80% sure) MUS 218 - Jazz Combo

It'll be a great quarter.

That does sound awesome. If you are ever interested in doing some mod concept work drop me a PM.

The normal load is 15 hours (generally 5 classes) a week here. Some people do as much as 20.

.

Thanks for the offer man, but I've recently moved away from wanting to pursue interests in the game design community though as much as it did interest me. Right now I'm doing a lot of poster/band work which is more my thing, though concept work - more technically, environmental design and architecture - is something I would like to explore further, just not right now.

I blame my fine art teacher for hammering out the side of my brain that had all of my sci-fi/fantasy art idea and replacing them with a whole host of equally exciting thing, though they just happen to be more relevent to ''me'' for where I am at the moment. I do know a few concept artists that are heading down to the same course as me so hopefully they can rekindle my interest somewhat.

Well i graduated HS in June. Ima work for a year and stay at home and learn 3D arts by myself. Then next year im moving back to the Swedish motherland to study at some university. Monkey im moving in with you. No arguments! You are a monkey, you cant argue. My logic is undeniable.

So far this school year has been kinda meh to me.

Algebra 2 Honors
Spanish 3 (holy ****ing shit that's a boring class)
Chemistry Honors (there are some HOT juniors in that class :naughty:)
AP World History (I need for sleep, damnit)
Drama 2 (woo \o/)
English 2 Honors (Poetry right now shittttt :l)

I'm back to being my bitter, self-hating and society-hating old self again. I'm trying to make a change back to what I was before that; loving life and having good friends. It's hard.

4th yr (but not last D: )

Compsci 201, 203, 304

signed up for technical writing but I may drop it if I get into Biol 483 (advanced evolution, and by that I mean it required another evolution class before).

Figured out I was only 1 bio class away from a Bio minor so I figured I should go for it, and the same evo teachers are teaching this so it should be cool.

Were have you all been? School started on the 10th... For those highschool students in the midwest... "me"

I wonder why they have such different shit, even as simply as HS one state over.

I didn't get into University this year, so I guess I'll be working, and teaching myself music theory and programming, or something similar.

I might apply to a comedy writing/performance program in Toronto for the winter '10 term. At the very least I hope to be in Toronto by January.

concept design
assests, icons and layouts
programming 2 for interactive media
life drawing

I don't know what else I have to talk about.

Technology in Education
Math for Primary Teachers
Intro to Digital Photography
Children's Acquisition of Language
Physical Geography

I like all of my classes. Which is awesome.

Where the hell are all the physicists?

Fluid Mechanics III
Experimental Physics III
Adv Dyn & Relativity III
Atmos & Env Physics III
Quantum Mechanics IIIB

Although technically over here it's half-way through second semester.

damn didn't u have back up schools you applied to?

Likewise.

ENG112 - Global Literatures (people who can't write trying to write)
PSYCH108 - Individual, Social, and Applied Psychology (genuinely interesting)
PHIL152 - Philosophy and Theories of human nature (Plato!)
ANTHRO(murr)10something - Something something popular music (wank paper)
SOCIO10something - Social Policy (totally not trying on this one for some reason)

Nah, I hedged my bets. I applied to three programs at the same university. Well... I applied for Psych at both of the affiliated colleges, and Philosophy at the better of the two. Denied for all, effectively on the basis that having clinical depression is somehow not a valid excuse for not finishing a full year of post-secondary. And there's the fact that my younger brother got into a more difficult program on the main uni campus with the same marks as me on less difficult highschool courses. ****ing bullshit.

But **** it, you know? I'm going to do something anyway. I've got places to visit, and time to save up some money. It's all working out for the best.

I graduated with a Bachelors of Biology in December. I've been working as a lab tech at a local dairy company for about 4 months. Not making nearly as much as I'd hoped to be making, but it's good experience for the resume. Take my advice for those of you in college: Get as much degree related work experience that you can while you're in school.

We were meant to get work experience with Pandemic, then they kind of shit themselves.

:(

Accounting Major here. Going into 2nd year

Microeconomics
Ethics in the workplace
Intermediate Accounting
Cost Accounting
Intro to Psychology

Going into my 3rd Year of Electrical Engineering , My first semester courses will probably bore you guys to tears but i'm actually looking forward to it.

- MACRO ECONOMICS
- ELECTROMAGNETICS II
- SIGNALS AND SYSTEMS
- ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND CIRCUITS II
- PROBABILITY AND RANDOM PROCESSES

It's going to be one challenging semester.

ENG 102 - English One-Oh-Two. This particular English class is reserved for music majors, and is taught by the wife of the director of bands. Looking forward to it, though I'm not looking forward to having two writing courses, even though I love writing.

Fixed.

Starting my MM in Trombone Performance this semester at North Texas (just moved into my new apt. last week, classes officially started on Thursday). First time having an apartment all to myself feels so weird right now (I'm used to having at least two other roomates).

So far, I'm taking a Trombone Orchestral Excerpts class (MUGC 5890.019), Form Analysis (MUTH 3510), Trombone Choir (MUEN 5602.502), Applied lessons (with Jan Kagarice; very exciting!), and Symphony Orchestra (MULB 5172.500) at this point.
Still haven't heard back on my jazz audition yet; doubtful that I made it into the One o'clock Lab Band (which sucks cause that's the onlyone that works best with my current schedule).

Other than that, dealing with new everything: new state, new apt., new car, new glasses, new people, etc. Kinda overwhelming, but I'm settling in OK.
