back up hl2?

i wanna dl hl2 through steam, but dont want to have to do it again, so is there a way to back up my steam package on a CD or large mp3 player?

You can burn the .gcf files to a CD or DVD

This is a bit off topic, but how do i know i finished prelaoding? it says that i have a locked copy of HL2 on my harddrive, but someone said that when it's finished 100% it should say HL2 is now finished preloading...

"Preloading is complete"

"When the game is officially released, you'll be able to play it immediately"

o, ok then, but how do i see what i preloaded? where did it preload it too?

well, it might not all be done mate. Thing is, they may release and update to it. So i would wait for it to be "released" properly, then back them up, thats what im doing anyways

it preloads to \steam\steamapps\youremail

the files have a .GCF extension, and should have no program associations (i.e be white with a little picture in the middle)
