i discovered something was wrong on my pc, bunch of pop ups and my IE homepage changed.. so i used Ad-Aware and after that i still had pop ups..

So i got Norton Anti Virus and used it, it discovered i got a trojan and it deleted it and some more ad ware..

but every time i scan theres more ad ware
anyone know any other programs that might work??

everytime you go on the internet you have a chance of getting spyware/adware. most of the time those things wont hurt you that much but Virus trojans that Norton catches those are the things that could kill your pooter.

This is exactly why I have more than 1 pc. My gaming rig never touches the internet unless through steam or online game. This saves the trouble about worrying about this stuff.

You will probably want to reformat your computer. That will permantely fix your problem and will eliminate any hidden viruses/spy ware that is still on your computer.

If/When you do reformat your computer. Make sure you install and maintain your antivirus software, use windows update, and use a firewall (ie zonealarm). Doing those three things will greatly reduce your chances of getting a virus or other mal-ware.

Use Spybot S&D (especially the immunize function), Ad-Aware, a competent virus scanner, and SpywareBlaster to help protect your Windows PC from spyware.

Are you sure you're not just turning up tracking cookies?
If so then it's likely that whatever trojan you found is not completely gone.

Well this is the scary part, i did reformat as soon as i found out i got a problem ( its what i do i dont mind installing my games again i dont do work or anything )

and a hour later i got my homepage changed to the same as before and all the adware started happening again..

i got Spybot and alot of the adware are gone but when i use ctrl+alt+delete i have alot of programs running heres the programs i shouldnt have running:
WSup.exe WToolsS.exe ccSetMgr.exe ccEvtMgr.exe WToolsA.exe SAVScan.exe symlcvc.exe

also cdshreder.

Addaware
spybou
cwshreder
google toolbar and popup blocker for IE users

all are a must have!

As a guy said in IRC, the cc, SAV, and sym files are probably for norton. The W files I have no clue what they are, maybe same thing, who knows.

I have heard about this several times before about reformating not completely taking care of spyware/trojans. Try ending all non-critical processes and then run spybot and adaware. Also, install windows updates, sounds like something is hijacking your browser. Use windows explorer and delete any programs that seem unusual or unnecessary.

We don't appreciate those kinds of attitudes around here. Sort it out.

You're thinking on the right path, even better run safe mode and run adaware and spybot. Also check for things on under Add/Remove programs that aren't suppose to be there.

You can switch browsers if you like. Which will put you out of reach for all the spy/adware that is targeted at IE specificly.
Most use Firefox.
Others are Mozilla/Opera.

And run Spybot:Search+Destroy and if you like, Ad-Aware.

I know that since I have switched to Firefox that I have had a max of 5 or 10 Spy/Adware on my pc when I scan weekly. With IE it used to be much more than 50. lol

its weird, in 5+ years of hardcore internet usage, ive only ever gotten 3 spyware/adware programs, and not a single virus(with many gb's of random dlled files, from p2p programs and random nondescript illicit viri-filled sites), i guess im pretty lucky. i would def. stay away from ie though, not only is it not as good as the other browsers, but it is targeted and abused a lot more.

I think my computer is ok now, needed to uninstall a ton of crap..

I aggree with Naft, i been using my computer for about 5 years also, and i download a ton of crap and this was the first time adware got me worried

The WSup.exe, WToolsS.exe, and WToolsA.exe one are a bitch, cause they auto restart if you wnet them. I got rid of them by running ad-aware on startup.
