Bad Company 2 Issues?

I know there is a thread for the game in general but I bought it off steam yesterday and it came with the beta. Has anyone done this? When I first started the game up everything seemed to work until I saw very odd artifacts all throughout the screen when moving around. So I exited the game, rebooted, changed a few video settings, and then it wouldn't let me find any servers. After a while a server did come up when I double clicked on it it crashed to desktop. After that I could not find any more servers. It would do other odd things such as not let me click on anything in the menu and I actually had to Ctrl + Alt + del not because it was frozen but because it wouldn't let me click anything to exit.

I'm gonna try it again today when I get home but Im curious if anyone else had problems. After playing this on my 360 with the shitty controller I am dying to play it on PC as shooting with a controller isn't worth a damn.

There are quite a few crash to desktops and random issues. For me, though, I play just fine. Sometimes I have to reboot my machine to prevent any weird performance hiccups, but all in all it's OK.

Try just clicking "Play Now" rather than using the server browser. There was a bug with the server browser that made it ctd. Not sure if its been fixed yet.

I think they did simply because its working fine for me now where it didn't when the beta was released.

I did the play now too last night, had same issue.

Now its saying "can not connect to ea online". I wonder if UAC is screwing something up, gonna restart it as administrator and see what happens.

It kicked me and my friend off earlier, and we cant log back in either. Maybe they're updating the servers or something? New patch on the way?

Run as administartor fixed connection issue. But the artifacts are still there and they are pretty bad, making it unplayable. But I noticed its worse in certain parts of the map.
I tried taking a screenshot but print screen didnt take a cap of the game, just my main desktop.

That's what someone on steam forums suggest, but temperatures seem to be normal as the fan doesn't start spinning very fast. I'll verify the actual temperature after work. I did clean all dust out just the other day on the video card and I'm not overclocking.

Driver update fixed the issue! Plays fine now.

Specs are AMD Phenom 9600 (it think its 9600), Nvidia 8800GS, and 2GB ram

That card might be cutting it clean, I don't know much about the GS line.

Good to know drivers fixed it. I've not really had any issues on my end with the 8800GT. I wouldn't imagine the GS is much worse..

Im having CTD too, sometimes i play for ten min before crashes sometimes its 2 hours , i need a better cpu too run it smoother, i have it maxed out 1920 X 1200 everything high getting about 30 fps im used too 60+ though.

I couldnt even see servers until I ran the exe as admin, but now whenever I try joining any server it says "Please Wait" and then nothing happens, the message just goes away and im still in the server browser. The only exception is the hl2.net server, which I can join, but then im immediately kicked out and get a message saying I've been "kicked from the server"

They are releasing an update to fix the "You have been kicked from the server" issues people are having (may fix the "Please wait" then nothing?). It's server-side, so you don't have to download anything. Just search for "R4" in the server browser to find servers who have it already.

It just takes a few mins to find a working server, so keep trying, and hopefully they will fix / optimize more in the first client patch.
