Dammit.

It seems that the publisher Eidos has delayed the release of DX2 until Q1 2004. No reasons were given. Deus Ex 2 was to be released on christmans before the delay was announced.

The sequel for the game with the probably best gameplay and story of all time has been delayed. Sniff.

here's proof (for all that understand german)

Thats the site of a well known german gaming print mag. they have great contacts (they're the largest gaming print in europe), its usually right what they write.

Whens it coming out wot is Q1 meant to mean

Q1 means it'll be out sometime within the first quarter of a particular year. i.e. Jan, Feb, March.

Aw bum. I was loads looking forward to that one. Second only to HL2, really. I heard they'd already started play-testing... Summat must've screwed up.
If it's been delayed due to the XBox version I'm going to be a very unhappy Chi. If it's vice versa... Then I have double standards. Whaddya gonna do.
It's still gonna be a barrel of gaming delight.

Dammit. Oh well, at least they have more time to make it a substantial sequel to one of the best games ever made!

Did anyone else think he meant DirectX 2?

Oh wow, a publisher announcing a delay without giving a reason. We all love it when that happens.

Heh, sorry for any misunderstandings...

But I never thought directX series were good games, even though directX 9 was a very good platform for mods like hl2, vampire etc...

No. I meant Deus Ex 2 of course. And what i wrote above is not to be taken serious. I do know a little about games...

yeah lol I did .. but then I realized thet Deus Ex got delayed several times so I made the link to Deus Ex 2 lol :p

i have to admit i was really looking forward to this game especially after watching the trailer. the thing i didnt like or care for from the first one was the ridgedness of the characters and npc's...they were kind of uncomfortable looking, and just looked unnatural. i saw some shots a while back and it looked like the same thing. i bet they changed it though...or atleast i hope so :dozey:

Between now and Q1 2004 there will be HL2 and Knights of the Old Republic for the PC.

Lesser but still good games to kepe me busy will be Halo, and Jedi Academy.

Though HL2 should be enough to keep me distracted until DE:IW comes out.

hmm, btw about confusing dx2 with directX.

Deus Ex 2 IS called DX2 in USA, because a lot of american buyers couldn't pronounce the name correctly (you pronounce it de-hus eks, the name means "god from the machine"). DX2 was easier to pronounce, so Deus Ex 2 will be called DX2 in USA. Europe will keep the name Deus Ex 2.

Ah nitpicking...technically "God from the machine" is Deus Ex Machina.
And I'm bummed to hear that. At least I'll have a better supply of cash when it releases though.

I thought the trailer looked pretty bad. The story seems hackneyed and unoriginal...and everything was too plasticy and stiff. The actual in-game graphics look somewhat impressive, I just hope the game is as serious as its predecessor, and that the story line turns out to be great.

But I'll with hold judgemnt until I play a demo or see some reviews, but it doesn't look pre-order worthy.

I've read up on the story the little, and I'm personally quite impressed.
Hoping its as good as it seems.
