So, I work on a farm, and one of my jobs is cleaning the calf stalls. I've been doing this for about 2 years now. And the whole time I've been using my right side. I think y'all can see where this is going. So today I looked at my abs and noticed my left abs are about 2x as big as my right abs (I'm guessing because my left side does the lifting :-\).

Anyone have any tips to fix this, besides forking with my left side for the next 2 years?

Drink lots of beer. The resulting gut will (hopefully) obscure your half sixer. That, or only allow people to look at your abs from one side.

Sit-ups might help to even out the size.

lol, I've never heard of that problem, it's funny cause it isn't me.

But yea, I'd say sit-ups, and work with your right side.

Easy! Find the heaviest barbell you can find (or you can hold). Hold it in the hand opposite you want to build up. With it to your side, lean to one side as far as you can reach, then straighten back up.

I remember a thread similar to this. Short Recoil said that you shouldn't try to even it out by only using your other side. Alternate between both.

Just don't get self-conscious about it. Whatever you do to even yourself out, don't stress. It always looks worse to you than it does to other people. Chances are, nobody else will even notice it.

I mean, I used to have a lisp. I hated myself, I hated it, I was suuuuper self-conscious about it. Eventually I went to speach therapy, and got rid of it in under a month. The woman who "taught" me said I'd broken all their records. Anyway, I went into school, very proud of myself, and guess what? Nobody noticed! This whole time, I was the only one who cared about it. The point is, deal with the problem, but don't freak out about it.

Think about the good parts.....

.....

If someone punches you in the left side of your stomach, it won't hurt....

ok, but still, it's SOMETHING...

P.S. Uriel, why do you have Mr. Rogers as your avatar? lololol...

Eh? When I read this thread I never even considered that he would be worried about his looks.. I mean, it's his abs. How often could he go shirtless in public?

Err.. Actually, forget I asked that.

But seriously, don't try evening out by working only on your other side. Work both evenly until it evens out. Alternate between each side every day, or hour, or whatever.

Ya, like others have said, don't just exercise one side. If you do you'll just end up unbalancing another muscle group somewhere else. So excercise both sides, and also switch hands while shoveling.

I rowed starboard for 5 years. Now my left hip rides higher than my right hip and two discs in my lower back have herniated. Try switching up sides a little.

How big is this discrepency? Are you like Arnie on one side and really skinny/flabby on the other?

Don't train with one side, ever.
You can end up causing more problems, exercise evenly but hard.
The weaker side will have more difficulty doing as much, therefore be worked harder and will grow faster to keep up.
Will prob take a while to balance, just do loads of sit ups and crunches and you'll come out fine.

Neither side is flabby, neither side is arnie. :-\ One side is just noticeably larger than the other.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'll make sure I work with both sides and let iteven out.

Pics would be good to help us determine how serious this issue is, too.

And if you're self-conscious about what we might say, just remember, you'll never get made fun of as much as the Star Wars kid.

Good luck :)

Bump/update
Since working out, the problem seems to have gotten worse. I've got a set of rather messed-up looking abs that don't want to even out.
Warning: If you have a problem with man abs, don't continue looking.

...tbh, I don't see what's the problem. I think you're just overly freaked out about nothing. Trust me, the same thing happens to everyone- a little flaw turns enormous in your own eyes. I mean, personally, I have a slight case of man-tits. It used to terrify me, until it finally clicked in that no-one cared.

Listen to this man.
