Is there a way to ban a website from your computer so that no matter what browser is used to try to look at the website, it doesn't allow access to it?

Dont think so, unless you get some kind of net nanny. Or your willing to get RM like my school...

Umm if you have firefox (you better :p) the best I can think of is going to firefox tools, options, web features, then go to load images and click exceptions, then type in the site and click block. That will stop that site from loading images.

Is it some adware you have or something?

that's kinda hot :naughty:

well you could just like not go to them. or like some1 said get a parental control type of things. wat type of sites are you trying to ban?

zonealarm will ban certain types of websites (tons of catagories) from viewing - hard to get around, requires a password but often blocks joke sites posted here as well but...oh well!

Step 1) Grab the computer with both hands on opposite sides

Step 2) Pull twords you violently

Step 3) Throw the computer out of the window (make sure you are at least on the 2nd floor of a building)

Ahhh I am so curious, what sites are you trying to block?

Oooh, he's right Danimal. One more mistake like that and you can say good-bye to being a moderator.

What is the Princess Jen thread!? Second time I've heard of it, and I still have no idea what it is.

All you newcomer's! Just forget about it! It was a thread starring a guy who pretended to be a girl! End of story!

Nah, it's deleted. I was only trying to be funny.

We can all get back on topic now. Kthx.

EDIT: Vegeta, just be paitent.

lol, there hardly is a topic, since the thread starter won't tell us what he is trying to block.

It's nothing.

There was no such thing as the princess jen thread or a princess jen for that matter.

Move along folks.

I said back on topic.

Don't make me close this thread.

Don't most popup blocker apps have blacklists? Just add the site to the blacklist.

Don't make me mad....grrrrrr.[/MrT]

They have an annoying system at college, which bans pretty much everything I need to access. Because I'm always looking for sites relating to different artwork, it just blocks them as Tasteless and Offensive :|

My school bans all image search engines :(

It is literally a quest of the ages just to find the image I want.

some firewalls have the feature to block specific websites

As Papa Z said, this is a job for the hosts file. Do a file search on your c:\ drive for "hosts", open the file with that name that comes up in notepad (it should be in C:\<windows dir>\System32\Drivers\Etc), insert the line:
Code:
127.0.0.1 evilwebsite.com
at the end of the file (which is probably almost empty), and save. Now everything in windows that tries to access the site will get "connection refused".

Seeing as nearly everybody in this thread is offtopic spamming the correct answer is.
Start > Run > Cmd > ping www.website.com > Record IP > With Custom Firewall or SP2 Firewall > Ignore this IP > Your IP here > Ok.

if they have local access to the machine that is doing the blocking, then no. There is no way to block the website from them.

The site was some bad erotic stories website that keeps popping up.

Ok, that didn't work.

Anyone recommend a free firewall?
