Like say ur behind a barrel and a enemy shoots at the barrel directy infront of u,will it go through?

i dont think so, since the idea is to increase strategy by introducing the barrels and physics, so theyre meant to be used as cover. i think its only wood that bullets go through now. anyone know for certain?

Already tested it, bullets do not go through the barrels.

They don't go through the barrels. I don't know about the heavy rifles like the AWM, though.

On HL2 fallout a person said they do...I bet it depends on the type of bullets.

I tested with all guns, bullets dont go through barrels. (he must have bad aim if he thinks they are)

One thing that annoyed me is the fact that you can't jump on barrels (or any physics enhanced objects for that matter). It's almost as-if the engine assumes your contact with them means you're trying to kick them, and moves them out of the way.

it did annoy me as well.. however I understand why they have this

imagine something weird happening where you lagged and got caught in barrels..
or people stacking things and climbing into the skyline (they already get up there though.. damn CTs)
or finding interesting places to plant the bomb (like in a barrel) or something.

it would change gameplay as much as Vehicles would imo.

I think its a performance issue too, since they said the physics was dumbed down for CS:S MP.. hopefuly its not limited to how it is implemented in CS:S right now.
I believe it puts strain on netcode, but I have no idea.

I saw in a video where a guy was getting shot threw barrels.....maybe he could see parts of his body since the barrels were falling over :)

I love physics!

LOl was playing at a cafe and me and my freind saw each other both ducked behind the same barrel, and there was a little calm because we didnt wan't to open up first. So i started firing first and he started firing at the same time, and the barrel sort of got caught in midair from both our bullets and did a spin and flew off LOL!

oo just had a thought (but didnt think it was worth starting a new thread over) on the lines of what ben just said. if two players were on oposite sides of the same barrel, and both shot it on the left edge (from their point of view) at exactly the same time, would it just spin on the spot?

they could see his body, the barrels cant be shot through.

heres a simple test if you want to do what I did.

stand the barrel next to a wall, fire into it at the sides, and centre (sides are thinner to penetrate through) and check the wall behind it, if you hit the wall it doesnt count, take single shots, then go check (you can tell when you hit a barrel because sparks fly off)

I tried with all weapons, sorry, but there is no penetration at all.
this is probably intended to be that what.
its easy to shoot someone behind barrels, because they fall over so easily, also with fixed hitboxes it is easier to hit what you are aiming at (less luck now, more skill)

you can't do it at the same time. not posible.

yea it would be possible. im sure you can each shoot within a second of each other. so in about 50 tries you should have at least one where you shoot at the same time. probably not EXACTLY the same time (because thats really unlikely but not impossible) but close enough that you would get the forces acting at pretty much the same time so....^&afhejw%if£dks :stare:

anywho in an ideal situation, if it was shot at exactly the same time would the barrel spin?

yep. physics made phun

I worked out that bullets can pass through walls but it depends how thick the wall is... in de_dust there is an angled bit of wall that starts thick and gets thinner... as u shoot the thick bit, the bullets dont pass through, but if you move down towards the thin bit and keep shooting, you get to a point where the bullets go through the wall - the thickness at that point is about 20cm. This depth could also be dependant on the material that wall is made of - eg. if it is a wooden wall it may go through at a greater depth.
