I'm going to disagree with you here. Begins' Gotham felt far more like the comic book Gotham. Dark Knight's setting was unmistakably Chicago.

I don't think it did. Your latter point, I can't argue you with, but Gotham in Begins looked awful. It was a complete mess -- a very jarring picture, as though they really couldn't decide what they wanted Gotham to be. It is so under-realised and it makes unpleasant viewing. I'll take Chicago over that mess.
