Polish your rifles and powder your muskets, because war is coming to New England! On second thoughts, seeing that cannonball hurtling towards me, I’d say it’s already here… oh dang. [br]Battle grounds 2 version 0.14 has been released, but will you be fighting to liberate yourselves from the British Empire, or are you trying to hold the American Colonies for the crown? Regardless of with whom your allegiance lies, the new version brings a barrage of new player models, updated maps and (surprisingly) new bullets. [br]

Wow, I know almost nothing about this mod except from when I saw an update a few months ago, but those screens make it look like it kicks ass

Anyone else think that neon green crosshair does not fit at all with the theme of the game :p

I've been playing this mod since the early versions for Half-Life 1, and it just keeps getting more and more badass. It's easily my favorite of the HL2 mods out so far.

The crosshair changes to reflect the accuracy you can expect in your current position. So if you crouch it gets smaller, and grows if you move. Players get the option to switch the crosshair around if they so wish.

there's now a choice of three crosshairs(and combinations thereof):
the dynamic circular from v0.0.12
a static three-line thing
a dot(tiny square)
use cl_crosshair as a bitmask to switch between them(add their indiviual codes for combinations)
also, check cl_crosshair_scale and cl_crosshair_r/g/b/a to set scale and color/opacity

I DO!!! :)))))))

You shush tomdon, Joule here is trying to agree with me.

Fun, buggy, laggy (may just be the server I was on), will need a lot of teamwork to get anywhere though (which will be hard to co-ordinate on a public server).

Definately good though, played it for about 45 mins!

Seems very buggy at this stage (what else would you expect from version 0.14?), but it's still great fun. I really like the feel of the game. Nothing quite like frantically reloading your single-shot musket while an enemy soldier is charging your way!

I'm going to be keeping my eye on this one.

1. soldiers maybe too fast
2. hit detection (esp with melee weapons)
3. bullets should go faster... i dont think balls travel that slow but maybe they do
4. HIGHER DAMAGE w/ guns.

other than that, great fun i played for a few hours and had a blast.

I've been plaing BG since it first came out for HL1 It has always been so... terrible. Models wise it was almost funny. But the game play is great fun, especially after watching the Patriot. Im really suprised on the quality of their models for BG2 I love the bullet effects, They even richchet! It is really buggy and laggy, but they have came a LONG LONG way since the first BG. Give it time. This will be a great mod! I love this mod!

First Impressions: Not that great. The gameplay gets really boring after awhile. Also, the melee weapons need some hit detection work. The bullets do seem to travel slowly. The weapon models are really ugly. I will wait until newer versions before I play again. I do see some potential though.

I played this when it first came out for HL1. I don't know, basing an FPS on a war in which battles were fought between two groups of soldiers standing there facing each other firng until one of the sides broke didn't seem like a winner. I'll try this though and see how I like it.

really good for version 0.14 need alot more polish. The maps are terrible and need alot of work. The sky boxes were horrible. the hand and weapon models need tons of work but i think thats all my complaints.

Right well.

It's missing something. The gameplay just turns into random running around trying to bayonet people too quickly. The novelty of the period is pretty cool at first, but the gameplay needs some....Oooomph ...some kazaaamm. I can't figure out what it needs.

its allrigght but not great, the models are really poor, when people get hit in the head they really should bleed to death instead of charging you while your desperatly reloading.

I had so much fun playing this for HL1 with my friends (the voice commands are hilarious and back with a vengeance)! played the first source version and the exploits kinda hurt it (see also every HL game ever) but its still fun and the patch says its fixed em up pretty good

I think part of the reason I like it as much as I do is playing it at LAN parties with a group of good friends, no exploits, and we kept rules to make the gameplay really fun, with a good group of people its really a brilliant game

The mod is rather addictive.
Forming up a line on public servers can be hard, but when you manage to do it => thrilling gameplay , see those charges brake in dismay if you fire 6 or more guns into them. The smoke is very thick at such moment, adding even more to the atmosphere of raw battle.

Maps are no really up to par with the rest of the mod yet, but it has huge potential this one :E

I have also been playing since HL1 BG...

I could have cared less about the models, the action in game was unparalleled. Line Battles totally OWN!

I agree with those that say the game has potential, but when I played it was laggy, could hardly hit anything with the saber, and the map seemed quite simplistic. Other than that it was fun :)
