With all the MOD's that will be out there for Half-Life 2, which one(s) do you think will rise to the top? And which ones will fail completely?

*Counter-Strike 2
*Team Fortress 2

1. Last Great War
2. Cold War: Melting Point
3. Entropy
4. Leave No Man Behind
5. Chaos Ops
6. Cama Killer
7. Edge of Chaos
8. Stargate SGC
9. Band of Brothers
10. Red Mafia
11. Awe Days
12. Trench Rats
13. Cama Killer
14. Hit-Squad
15. Exodus
16. Citadome
17. Fall of Sicyon
18. Jurassic Life
19. Atlas Sentinel
20. Splitter: The One
21. Citizen-132
22. Gettysburg
23. Fallen Faith
24. Over The Top
25. Midway to Victory
26. The Ressurection

The 10 Biggies will be in the Poll.

I haven't heard of any of them

Meh, i'll just download a lot of mods and try them all out.

A lot of mods are going to fail at the start of Half-Life 2; this can be seen throughout history in other games. It might even be possible that every mod listed in the poll will fail. So this is sort of pointless.

Yes, they will all fail! Unlike Sven Co-op, which will rise to the top!

Yeah, exactly, there are so many HL1 mods that never got finished at all, or went out of buisness so to speak.

Huzzah! You said it yourself.

Cold war: melting point team have done alot of work and will release the MOD shortly after HL2 is released.

They have some cool renders.

/me goes off to find their link

Well my opinion is, all mods that have been announced so far are just HL1 mods with improved graphics, nothing more, that's why they will be played a while after HL2 ships (cause they are the only ones available), but none of them use the new technology that Half Life 2 offers, until now none have new creative ideas. Why should I buy a new machine to be able to play Last Great War with really improved graphics (you're able to run HL2 on 700 Mhz computers, but to gain advantage of all the new graphics you still need a high-end system) when DoD is just the same game?
IMO, the only successful mods will be using physics (and new, perhaps until now unpublished features) integrated in the game, to allow for totally new gameplay that wasn't possible in any games before HL2 (such as HL and its mods). Perhaps there will even be mods that don't even fit in the old FPS scheme, without weapons and frags and such but with other gameplay ideas. (For example, check http://www.atitd.com/, it's a mmorpg that doesn't have any dungeons, battles or such)

Not necessary to say, most (if not all, except Sven Coop) of the "announced" mods will never ever be finished, or even actually started in the first place. (Having a website, some weapon renders and a pal who knows C++ are not really sufficient premises for a successful mod.) Especially Grey City, cause guinny seems to work for it.

(PS: I'd be happy to see those modders prove me wrong and really create high quality mods that efficiently use HL2's capacities shortly after HL2 is released, but I doubt that)

About not using source's new cababilities, VALVe is working with some mod teams like CS2 and stuff, so they will probably encourage them to use new features. Althought that is only a few mods :(

I refuse to vote in such a crappy poll...........if a mod sounds to much like cs(it amazes me how many do) ..i wont even think about trying it.........

dude, LGW is most definitely NOT the same game as DoD, same setting, completely different approach, i mean, jeez, read up on the mods you're gonna commment on before you do

Oh good: 26 different people pumping out weapon renders... :dozey:

good, one less crybaby.

anyways, where did u guys read up on all these mods for hl2?

meh, i think alot of great mods will surface much later. If they release right after the sdk is out, then they really couldn't have put THAT much time into it...

Agreed.

And yeah, this poll shouldn't exist.

I'm more interested in mods that the creators of are smart enough not to brag too much about yet, considering the engine its based off of hasn't shipped yet, as that seems to be more of a sign that they know what they're doing (Sven-coop and any other mod that is working w/ valve already are exceptions).

Also, I just can't wait to see what unique new mods HL2 will bring. I truely hope that we can see some fresh new stuff, rather than the same old crap with different models...

If you are going to make a poll, perhaps you should list all the HL2 mods. There are quite a few you left off. But in reality, there's no way to tell which mod teams will make it and which ones won't. There are far to many variables.

There was one HL1 single player mod that was supposed to be all film noir and was in black and white - does anyone know what happened to it?

Or even know what I'm on about...

i do think the ppl from entropy showed that atleast they have some skilled modellers in the house, some others already showed some nice art-work and creativity
