After reading a few posts saying how much they miss the huge bombers of Battlefield 1942, maybe we should get a group together to play it on the latest patch, and see if there are any servers left? Who thinks this is a good idea?

I have 1942...but why not just Battlefield 2? Both games are quite populated.

There's plenty of servers for 1942.
I'd totally be up for it if I could just find my CDs.

I've got my BF2 case out but I'm really not a fan of it, too much jet rape and not enough infantry-only servers.

I am up for it too. Just for good ole time's sake. I haven't played it in ages.

If I could find the CD I would be up for it. Just worry about the lag since all of us are all over the planet.

If only I found the game CDs I never had...

Hey what ever happened to BF 1943 coming to PC? Did that ever happen? I figure I would have heard something about it.

I think it was supposed to come out like last September but it keeps getting delayed for reasons I don't know. Eventually I think it'll be free for BC2 owners.

They've continuously delayed it and now there is no fixed release date, just "TBA". It was supposed to be released about a year ago.

If I can hunt down my disk and CD key I'd love to play some 1942. I like it even more than BF2. I'm the one who said I missed the huge bombers and I'd love to get a crew up to use one :D I also could play the Omaha level all day long.

I could play El Alamein all day long.

Omaha seemed too tiny for me.

I mostly loved it because I'd grab the Allied jeep on the beach and some unlucky passenger and do some Dukes of Hazzard driving across the beach and up the ramp past a dozen Axis players who could do nothing but look at me in disbelief as I bounced past them, dodged a tank coming down from the trenches and parked with my front wheels on some unsuspecting sniper's skull at the top. Also a lot of opportunity for sneaking past the chokepoints and knife raping campers at the German defenses.

El Alamein was a great map too, huge as **** too.

Oh yeah, the hilarity on Omaha was endless.

God damn it, I'm going to go fish out my CDs now.
****.

I've purchased this game twice from stores, and I can't find my disks.

There are other options but... :(

Hooray, found my CDs!
I need to replace this case, it's basically all busted to hell.

You gays better still be up for playing.

I'm pretty sure I have this and the road to rome somewhere. Never did get secret weapons. I'm not sure if I'll track them down though... I gotta a Steam full of new games to play before I play old ones :/

I'm thinking of possibly grabbing the BF1942 complete collection since it comes with all of the games on that engine.

If only to just replace my old CDs/CD cases.

Yeah, there's a few mods that we should definitely play.
Desert Combat, Galactic Conquest, Battlefield Pirates, Interstate 82, Eve of Destruction, and Forgotten Hope.

Good shit.

Hit me up on Steam whenever you guys want to play.

Forgotten Hope was the best. I played that shit out of that. Realism mod with crazy cool textures. Artillery was brutal though...

Ehh, never cared for Forgotten Hope...spend days downloading 3 massive files, install, spawn, find a vehicle or run 20 miles to the fight, get killed with a single shot, and repeat.

It took a lot more skill and grace than the original Battlefield. I remember once at a lan party long ago I took a sherman on rampage that lasted nearly the entire game. It was brutal. Also shooting down planes with bazookas was dramatic. Actually the best part of Forgotten Hope was the flying... much more realistic in flight and attacking. It's what got me in to WW2 planes.

You didn't have to run that far to the fight at all.
It's not nearly as bad as PR for BF2.

And you'd have to have a truly terrible connection if takes you days to download the files.
