woah it looks better than i thought.

the water effects looked average in the videos though. ohwell aslong as the gameplay is intact
 
I wouldn't get me hopes up, its EA we're talking about here. Sure the graphics look visually pleasing, but what about the gameplay?
 
Thats just a basic repeating water shader, whats the big deal?
 
lol gameplay will be same or better from BF1942
the guys from best mod DC are working on new BF2 ..

I saw these 5 days ago on TotalBF.com. Great graphics though. I like the pic with the water too. Yeah, its a repeating texture but it still looks fantastic. :naughty:
 
They dont look like ingame screenshots to me... they looked pre-rendered and touched up. I wouldnt shoot your load over this.
 
Looks very good but i dont think ill ever find a game like that fun.

Bf2 looks to be a cool game, and a must buy for me... but I really wish they would invest more into their explosions.

take Mercenaries for example, best explosions in a game ever.
 
BF does at least try to stride the line between realism and ridiculousness when it comes to look of things in the game. Plus the more intensive an explosion the more problems it can cause connection-wise.

No they aren't. EA purchased DICE, so DICE is now EA. All profits go to EA, and I suspect that EA slave labour rules now apply to the developers.

A) Thats the worst argument ever. Not to mention the fact that theres sure as hell gonna be some copy protection like the other BF games. (made it a pain in the ass to play on public servers)
B) Hating the game, the developers, or the supposed conditions that they work in WITHOUT KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT THEM is equally stupid.

I may hate EA, But...stooping so low as to be a pirate?
You sir are not only cheap but you're also a god damn moron.

If the demo is any good, Then I'm sure the game is worth every penny.

Correction; Fans are remaking the game. I personally know the leader, Demolition_Man, as well as numerous other people that are in the old community (www.TheBattlefields.com / www.BFCentral.com / www.BF42.com). He is no way affiliated with the actual Desert Combat, besides the plausibility of him being a tester. All of the members are fellow mod-makers throughout the community wanting to remake it. Sorry to sink your boat mate.

And guys, the developers don't suck, the owners do. I come from a strong Battlefield background; from knowing the person who made the map tools (rexman) to having interviews with the team (One Eye). You guys are too quick to point fingers. You don't know the developers, you know the corporate snobs.
 
And lucid, DICE isn't fully making the game. There are people from both companys, even though it is one now.
 
screen shots look pretty impressive, my mate played the first battlefield1942 said it was very good, never tried it myself, maybe i should :p
 
Too bad that if I get this game I will have to run it on low settings. (if it even runs at all)

You're a schmuck. If you pay for a quality game, you're telling the manufacturer to keep making high quality titles while, at the same time, funding their next project.
 
Go ahead and pirate the game. You'll still be missing out on the ONLINE play. Which is really the only reason to play it.
 
I guess I'm just different than everyone else, but I hated bf1942 and absolutley loved bfvietnam. The only problem I have with any of the bf games is the terrible lag, and the fact that players are scaled so close to the ground that it feels like you're two feet tall...but otherwise, bf is one of my favorite online games. I can't wait for this new one! I just hope it lives up to my expectations (which are actually pretty low), and dang it, we better be able to blare music from those vehicles like in bf vietnam!

Hmmm thats odd, most people loved BF1942 and hated BF Vietnam. Although BFV had slightly better GFX I found that BF1942 had more balanced gameplay and less lag.
