I just installed Battlefield 2 and updated to 1.41 but when ever I put in the Disk the start menu comes up so I click play Battlefield 2 and the little Battlefield 2 picture comes up to show it's load then the screen goes black then it exits back to my desktop.

Can someone help?:bounce:

Well you've only yourself to blame.

Whats you Video card? Sounds like what happened to me with my 4800SE

This is my bad computer, I'm going to try it on my good computer too but I just wanted to see if it could run it.

If it's just the specs then I'll try it on my better one.

Mmm hmm. And you've got heaps of ram but a slow CPU speed.

So who is going to buy the 2142 Booster? Not me! Because I didn't even buy 2142! Why should EA/Dice make a decent game, when they can make CRAZY $$ selling map packs!

i dont like 2142...its so damn boring....the guns suck (more than the ones in bf2) and the vehicles are lame....i much rather a helicopter than those stupid Plane/Choppers.

Wow another charged map pack? When will it END?!

You know, I have thought about getting BF2142, but then I realized that I was not going to install spyware willingly on my system, nor would I pay to do so.

I recently installed BF2, which I lent from my brother. I knew it was shit, like it has always been, infantry-combat and netcode-wise, so I started looking for mods to make the game ok. I found Project Reality. This mod fixed the biggest flaw of BF2 - That bullets don't hit and when they did hit, they did no more damage than a BB bullet. In this mod, you can actually shoot a guy, and he dies. It ads the UK army, an Insurgent one, new maps, and a whole spectrum of other things. It makes BF2 good.

You can download it at realitymod.com, but it's at about 1.7 GBs! :)

PR is a mod I would be willing to pay for.

*EA assimilates PR mod + team + makes me pay for it.

Sounds like my dream mod, too bad I just uninstalled BF2. >_<

Well, they're already releasing a booster pack that nobody's going to play for BF2142. :|

The trailer/teaser is out. Check youtube. It looks pretty generic + vehicle would not own as much in a real game.

I don't like the idea of booster packs, but IMHO the trailer is awesome as always.

I love PR. Anybody that wants to play in a squad and use teamwork hit me up on xfire @ tcfrombn.

LOL! Remember that video I posted a while back with that wise ass guy at E3 who was one of the top guys at DICE? He said there will be 2 expansion packs coming out for bf2142 even before bf2142 was released at E3! He said there was going to be the Asian front coming in and the Middle Eastern Forces. It makes sense too right? I mean you had to think where were those races. ;) The trailer sucked not showing off combat but rather something other than combat and focused mainly on one vehicle. Nope, I'm not gonna buy 2 expansion packs like I did for bf2. You had to swap out the cd's all the time for special forces. It was really dark so you could'nt see anything, even with nightvision goggles. But I got Special Forces unlocks! :O The Armored Fury one was fun at one point until nubs started spawn camping with their tanks though.

You could play BF2 with the Special Forces CD in the drive...

True, but then you would have to wait for BF2 to exit then Special Forces to load. It took forever too because of the crap-tacular coding that DICE did on the BF2 engine.

Crap-tacular is giving them a little too much credit, I believe.

Crap-talicious maybe? :cheese: Oh and I love the way how the game lags up your computer after playing it. You gotta restart your computer to get the effect off.

Why do you guys wine so much when you play the game? does it make your E-penis grow or something?

you know how hard it is to make a game?how much work is put into it and how hard it is to find bugs? yes it might be glitchy and buggy but there has to be somthing good about it cause it has a big following :)

Yeah they depend on people like you to support their shoddy coding. I might be going to extreme's here but if I continually put out crappy welds (I'm a welder) do you think I might have a job? Do you think someone might die if one of my welds broke? Why does DICE still put out games all the time then when they continually make them horrible. My teacher said to me one time: "Focus more on quality than quantity. People will remember your quality work in the long run compared to your sloppy, fast made work." Valve never meets a deadline and it takes forever for them to pop out a five hour game but it's probably the best games you will ever play. ;) Give your $60 dollars (which is a lot for a game imo) to something that really deserves the time to game developers like Valve. They deserve it, not Dice.

Why are you blaming DICE? what most people dont understand is the developer wants the game to be as polished as possible but the publisher wants the game to be on schedule and made as fast as possible so that they can gain some profit from the sales.the developers are givin harsh deadlines to meet and cannot make those deadlines without compromising some of the games quality if dice was able to they would make games like hl2 but its hard when you have to make "deadlines"

money doesent grow on tree's so the longer they take the more money there spending and the less the publisher wants to give them.

and you must hate BF2 cause you only have 282 hours on it :p

Oh trust me, BF2 can be fun but only in rare cases.
  1. The team has to work together.
  2. No internet lag.
  3. No RAM lag.
When those are met you get really fun gameplay. They released a buggy game though even with a public beta. They continue to release patches that break the game more than fix. Patch's don't have deadlines but rather fix a broken product. They continue to fail to meet that standard nor do they meet innovation nor customer satisfaction. They obviously never listen: http://kotaku.com/gaming/dice/dont-complain-to-dice-no-ones-listening-204607.php?mail2=true
Then the final blow is they have stopped supporting BF2.
