looks good but I'm a bit weary of a new bf game so soon after bf2 ...besides the superior looking quake wars should be coming out in the same time frame

I really don't care, this is like C&C Renegade but so much better, i will buy this as one of the 3 games i buy a year these days.

Well it all just depends on how good it is doesn't it? Besides the fact that its not supposed to come out in three quarters of a year at the soonest. Maybe I'll be ready for it then.

Not a huge fan. BF2 was terrific, but for whatever reason I never got as into it as I did with, say, CS. Updating it with sci-fi future-tech just makes it like so many other shooters out there imho.

Olde Tyme warfare? Great.
Modern warfare? Fine.
Futuristic warfare? My ass is beginning to twitch....

You are aware that it's being run on the standard BF2 engine?
Nothing more, nothing less.. So technically it is just BF2 with a new face..

They need to wait and improve on the look of the game. Looks like BF2 with new models. I mean i know gfx arent everything but so soon they are releasing a new game. Whats the reason for this? Just not interested. Ill still buy it just because its BF2 more like a collectors thing.

It doesn't even look like they have changed the models for the humans. I'm not sure I will be getting this one, quake wars look pretty darn good.

This thing appears to still be in early development, so I would be surprised if we didn't see the look change over the next few months either.

Direwolf, it's been stated over and over that it'll be running at the very same engine as BF2, heck, they haven't even said they'll be upgrading the engine in any way, but we could still see some cosmetic changes like in perhaps improved player models(Hoping).
But then again, in the gaming industry, I guess nothing's written in stone..

Game design is depended on a lot more than just the engine it runs on. Right now it looks like a mod because thats really the level they're at: new maps with new models. I'd expect to see bigger changes in the final product.

You guys remember Battlefield: Vietnam?

This seems kinda like a similar concept. Basically the same game, different setting.

Vietnam added some really cool stuff though (helicopter lifting and music for two examples). It was just the technical execution that hamstringed it.

someone didn't read the pc gamer article! A few comsmetic changes are indeed being made, for example explosions and the physics system are being revamped.
