The Tour, the only community of its type, will allow members to play Battlefield 2 the way it’s meant to be played; featuring a hierarchical ranking system, an engaging storyline, interactive multimedia, and dedicated servers, BF2 Combat ™ will dramatically enhance the experience. Members will be able to play in multiple 8 hour battles every week, playing as much or as little as they like.

During registration, members will be able to select to enlist to fight for the Middle East Coalition, the United States Army or Marine Corps, or the Peoples’ Liberation Army. Players can also join in groups of up to 50 and be assigned into the same unit, which will make it easy for clans or groups at LAN centers to play together. “We can accommodate any skill level. As part of the package, we will train recruits or allow the hardcore clan member to improve their skills by facing off against the best. BF2 Combat will quickly become the standard not only for the serious clan member but also for the casual player looking to get more out of the game and to learn the ropes quickly in a friendly environment,” said Luis Alvarez, Planet Combat’s Director of Operations. The Tour is an ideal place for the hardcore clan member and the casual player alike.

Among BF2 Combat’s key highlights is the Ranger School; designed and directed by real ex-U.S. Army Rangers, the school will take the Battlefield 2 experience to the next level. The Tour will feature a multi-layer, dynamically updating flash map which reflects the current status of a virtual war. At the end of each three month Tour the outcome of the last will be taken into consideration, as the world map will be readjusted, opening new paths and possibilities. Founder Allan Hansen explained how the concept would revolutionize the way PC games are played, saying: “we aim to blend elements of a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) into a cutting-edge First Person Shooter (FPS). The combination will be unbeatable!” For more information about the Tour of Duty, please visit www.bf2combat.net.

Agreed

$9.95 isnt all that bad for 3 months if you consider that the average is about $5/month per slot

if they gave out server passwords and a guaranteed spot I'd probably consider it

how many clans have servers? most have to collect money from their members and it's usually more than $5 a month

in the past I've been a part of a clan where everyone donated $ to run the clan server ...I had server config access, great ping and a guaranteed spot. It was worth it imho

I would say this is one of the stupidest ideas ever, but I say it may be the stupidest ever for Battlefield 2. Paying to play a game that doesn't require you to pay?

Exactly it's worth the money to fund your own server. You don't have to put up with bullshit from a bunch of strangers.

Anywhoo I usually play on Aussie internode servers (ranked) with no problems. Node players being the noobs that they are.

yes but on average it's $5 a slot meaning that for a 32 player server you'd have to collect $180 a month or $2160 a year ..that's hard to organize unless you know the people fairly well

for $9.95 you get 3 months of server time ...seems like a deal in comparison ..the only problem I would have is not having access to the server commands ...if I'm paying for server space I need the ability to kick jackasses if I have to

Exactly, people don't understand that servers aren't free. A good reliable 64 slot server for bf2 would easily be $200 a month.

This won't be a bad deal if people actually sign on to it. Besides, its always fun to play without smacktards.
