just watched the miniseries. i like the attention to detail and a lot less gayness than star trek. nipples trough shirt are also an added bonus. :)

it got me ally hyped, so maybe i'll go play a bit freespace 2.

are you still drunk?? also it was an amazing show

Great show but it had tons and tons of hit and miss episodes.
Stupid love triangles and shoving religion down our throats.

no..i'm cool. just the head hurts a bit.

it was...sadly. but it just started for me :E

Idiots. It wasn't frakking God. Religion wasn't shoved down your throat.

old Battlestar Galactica > new Battlestar Galactica

Why?

Well because:

old Battlestar Galactica - sci-fi/action/adventure
new Battlestar Galactica - sci-fi/drama

with way to much focus on the ****ing drama. FFS it's a soap-opera in space...

Yeah the new Battlestar should have had more action focused around rescuing some dumb kid who gets in trouble and then rescuing his robotic pet who get left behind in the initial rescue.

Drama != Soap opera
:dozey:

The Conspiracy theory is, the so called god is a highly evolved Cylon. well one of them anyway.

I prefer the newer series because I think it's far less cheesy.

I could do without the hand-held video camera style - makes me nauseous and it drives me nuts.

Look who's talking... Leaping to a conclusion as wild and unsupported as hot's.

It's clearly not God, but it's something non-corporeal, or at least very telepathic/whatever. If I had to guess I'd say an evolved Hybrid or something predating humans and 'The Cycle'.

So, despite a show that has been predominantly religious, you're of the mindset that "It wasn't frakking God" despite God being mentioned several times in the show, based off of the single quote "He doesn't like being called that" in the finale's last few minutes that shouldn't have existed anyway. Despite your own beliefs, whatever they may be (and who really cares), in the context of the show it did come down to both God and Angels. In short: I think you are the idiot, sir.

i just seen the first episode of season 1. that annoying blond bitch always throws religion in my face...what's the deal with this? is this some kind of marketing stunt to gather religious people or some deeper metaphorical meaning? it's kinda annoying to say the least

The original BSG was written primarily (I think) by Mormons and included a lot of their beliefs. This show doesn't do anything to appease any particular religion, that I know of, but does still keep religion at a pretty integral role.

Unfortunately like many other parts of the show, it isn't used to its full potential, and in many cases is even just a cop-out.

It certainly mentions religion a lot, yet we also have several atheist main characters. Characters losing faith, gaining faith, questioning faith.
You'll find it's only the religious characters who see the hand of God. The atheists/agnostics don't suddenly convert - it isn't religious propaganda by any stretch of the imagination.

jverne: some of the characters are very religious. Others, not at all. Deal with it.
