I'm currently downloading this on the PSN but has anyone else tried this yet?? I keep hearing good things

downloading now
expectations are HIGH!

YES! lets give this possibly great game some good support! I thrust it will be good!

I have absolutely no idea what all the hype is about, besides big tits/ass.

Horse ass, horse legs. Cybernetically implanted head on horse body.

Heard gameplay was DMC + more DMC.

Yeah, and from what I've seen the animations are gorgeous (I dont mean in terms of the suggestive poses, but the fluidity of the actions).

I always thought it would be a girly DMC rip-off. Apparently I am correct, but that might not be a bad thing in some people's books. Mine, however, got rid of DMC after the first one. Just not into the gameplay anymore. Someone let us know if there is more to it than that. Thanks!!

I usually dig chicks with glasses, but not this one.

after playing the demo i wanted to play more. gameplay was fast, fun and looked pretty nice. overall 8/10 so far

How is anything with quick time events and random button mashing considered fun?
These are hardly games. They're interactive movies for this new generation of lazy console gamers.
I remember when you had to remember complex combos to perform moves in games. This seems to be a rare thing in games nowadays.

well, if you're a fan of DMC, then you'll probably enjoy this
it's NOT a button masher
in fact, to succeed, especially on the higher difficulty settings, you'll need to master the many combos and be quick enough to dodge effectively
Bayonetta as a character does not really appeal to me (although that may change with the full game) and the blatant sexual innuendo at every turn is pretty tacky but the deep combat and overall stylishness of the game are enough to keep me entertained
still a first day purchase :)

So: Street Fighter? But I already bought that! Silly Japanese, trying to make me buy the same game twice.

I don't know, but they managed to make a franchise off of it. Actually two successful franchises; they're called Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

Tried it last night and I can see why it's getting high scores but I am not impressed with it myself.

I think the reason it is getting such amazing reviews is because it is the first game of its type to allow you to actually play like characters do in cutscenes from these sorts of games. But at the end of the day if you aren't a fan of DMC/NG then this won't convert you. Personally I became kinda sick of DMC and hated NG so yeah despite glowing praise it seems my initial perception of the game really wasn't far off :| (I could only play DMC on easy cos I can't do combos effectively (same reason why i SUCK at fighting games)and NG was just plain TOO hard :( )

Any game of this type can be button mashed. You'll be crap at the game and won't even begin to scratch the surface of the combat system, but you can button mash. The irony is that the people accusing games of this type as being button mashers - DMC4 got the same reaction in places - are those that are button mashing and obviously don't know what they're talking about. If there isn't a staggeringly huge amount of depth to Bayonetta's combat system i'll eat my feet. I suspect it's going to destroy NG, DMC and GoW in this respect - time will tell.

Combat aside, there's no debate that technically the game rocks - 60 fps, superb animation, and smooth as butter - and creatively it looks equally as accomplished. Bayonetta looks like the product of a catsuit wearing lsd binge.

your last statement was just what the docter ordered! i agree with what you mentioned but i will still wait a few days for official reviews from the majority of gamers. for me this type of game is a welcome break from RPGs, FPSs and 3rd Person Action games

Can somebody tell me what the appeal of this game is beyond gratuitous T&A?

Edge Magazine, 10/10

A beautiful and graceful fighting game that lets imagination loose, and winks before slapping Dante, Kratos and every other hero back to the drawing board.

Eurogamer, 9/10

A game that exemplifies so much of what commentators claim has died in the Japanese game industry. A blast of creative brilliance, both technically accomplished, strategically deep and infused with rare imagination, Bayonetta represents the pinnacle of its chosen niche.
