So yeah. We all have different oppinions about what defines a beautiful woman no doubt, so what in your oppinion is a beautiful woman? If you can post a piccie of the woman in question.

Here's three from me anyway:

I figure its most legitimate in Art & Design... if another mod disagrees, then go nuts, I'm a bit unsure about this thread anyway

EDIT: And if this thread doesn't stay responsible, then I'll close it.

Scientificly beauty is best described as the display of excellent health. Whites of the eyes should be bright and not dull or yellowed, skin is evenly toned and elastic, hair is thick, etc. Symmetry is also considered beutiful by humans, whether they consciously think about it or not. If you take what are widely considered to be "beautiful people" and compare the symmetry of their faces with the symmetry of "average" or "ugly" people, you'll find that their faces are generally more symmetrical. There are also certain ratios and proportions that the majority of people consider attractive. For example, most men find a waist to hip ratio of approximately 70% (where the waist is 70% of the width of the hips) to be most attractive. In addition to that stuff there are other less scientificly describable factors. These include but are not limited to:

The kind of women that are portrayed as attractive by society. People are heavily influenced by what the majority of their peers do and say (or appear to be saying and doing) because we have this instinctive mechanism that tells us "well if it's what everybody else wants then it must be what's best".

The kind of role-model's you had while growing up. As disgusting as it might seem, most people are attracted to people who have physical traits similar to their parents. Most people don't consciously think about that, but it is true in most cases.

If you want to draw beautiful women, find lots of pictures of women you consider beautiful (that's the fun part ;)) and study their proportions, facial features, and physical traits. Then emulate those.

BTW, learn to draw eyes as accurately as you possibly can. The eyes are oh so important to the way a person is initially percieved. You've seen it before. Some people just look sneaky or whatever, because their eyes are close together and relatively small compared to the rest of their head. Some people look innocent because their eyes are large in comparison to their head. Well, if you can't draw eyes properly, you won't be able to extract the reaction you want from people.

Beauty is best when it is as natural as can be (no make up and surgery). That's why it is hard to acknowledge a form of beauty in the entertainment world since the majority of woman wear a mask.

Personality, for me, is about 90% of what defines beauty.

personality makes a person beautiful. clear skin, nice hair, and beautiful eyes help... but mainly personality.

Cyanide have you read the short story "Liking what you see: A documentary?" If you haven't you'd really enjoy it, considering you know all that stuff about scientific beauty.

As for me, Liv Tyler really does it.

You can't tell personality when you're watching porn!

Erm, I mean...

Haha. Anyways, Scarlett Johannson is ridiculously good looking. But I've never really had a crush or fetish or anything for any celebrities, because to me, they are all so fake. Real people are so much better looking.

Who wants to look at a girl without some kind of "fault" or something? If it is all completely perfect, then you know it can't be real, and where is the fun in that? Pictures don't do it, either, you have to actually look at a person to know if they are beautiful.

I totally know what you mean Erestheux. I mean, there's this girl I have a total schoolboy crush on that's really far from perfect lookswise, just good enough for it to be attractive. That's what I love.
