MY computer sometimes starts beeping and I do not know why.
Here is the sound recorded.
http://rapidshare.com/files/28033472/SND_3196.wav.html

I get it when I try to compile a certain map in hammer, I got it when letting the program face gen run, I got it today when playing a game called sanitarium.

It's a really old game that crashes if I do not slow down my pc, so I do it by having Firefox windows open, and today I got that beeping with this game too, multiple times on the same level, even though the load on my pc was less then usual when I play this game, since previously I also used to have a hammer window open to slow down my pc even more.

Now I really do not know what can cause this, because when I play lets say bf2 which is much more demanding on my pc it doesn't happen or company of heroes. I also tested my ram, my hdd and did a system check.

In any case, thnx in advance for any help.

Use search to find your answer. Or google it.

Yeah it's in the first link :hmph:

Continuous Hi-Lo Beeps = CPU Overheating

**** you are right, How the hell could I have missed that. Stupid! stupid! stupid!

But the thing is I do not get how my cpu can overheat when doing something which doesn't really require much of it's power, while at the same time not overheating when doing something that brings it to it's knees.

Are you using Dosbox to run that old game? With Dosbox (and perhaps similar Dos emulators) you can (if you set them higher) set your cpu cycles to speeds that aren't healthy, which could make your CPU overheat.

Take the cover off your PC and make sure your CPU fan is still operating. Might be time to upgrade cooling/heatsinks.
