a friend of mine is concerned about me drinking (<3). He told me that alcohol is far worse than eating 50 greasy tacos and it will eventually lead me to get a beer belly.

now, I drink only every other weekend, to the point of being dizzy, but still being able to walk and think well enough to act relatively normal.

another thing... does it affect acne (getting it worse)? because i recently got a rather large lump somewhere behind my cheek; only i don't know if it's because of the alcohol i had on new year's or just because of hereditary acne. note that if i have a lot of grease (ie macdonalds) i tend to develop lumps of varied sizes.

Only if you get so drunk that you forget basic hygiene.

i dont know about beer CAUSING acne... but to help better skin drink shit loads of water. I do... lol.... ahaha... whoaaa gotta pee ..

PEACE

Mikey:laugh:

Ive never had acne, iv;e always had a healthy diet thanks to godo paRenting L:D

Ive never had a single food affect my acne cept Chocolate.

The major thing that affects it is my mood. Blowing my top results in acne.

Drink nothing but alcohol for 6 months solid, then go 6 months stone cold sober.

Just check the calories/fat etc info on it. It's not worse than 50 greasy tacos. lol. But it's not helpful either.

Then again I don't drink beer at all. Just liquor.

Ugh dude, look, alcohol is seen by the body as energy, but it doesn't actually use it, so it stores it as extra calories (fat,. AND it slows down your metabolism. Also, it makes you kill your parents and then kill yourself.

Edit: lol at Greatgat's comment

Wine has more calories than beer. although, you tend to drink more beer than wine.

Also I think another reason alcohol will give you a beer gut is because you get hungry with alcohol, so end up eatting kebabs everytime you drink.

Hmm well all tht stuff doesnt exactly help, and although it might not be causing the direct problems it adds to them, alcohol n fatty foods arent exactly brilliant for the skin bt its not the whole problem, if you're gunna drink now n again and have fast food or wotever just make sure you're eating and drinking healthy stuff too, fruit veg, loadsa water n then it will sorta balance itself n wont be as bad in the long run...! Also from past experience when i cut back on alcohol my skin did seem to be a lil a better, and yes drink some other stuff besides beer, or you might end up with a beer belly :p

I don't have a problem with spots because of my super healthy diet (and good genetics obviously) the only time i get a few spots is when i go a bit heavy on the whey protein or go a week without washing properly in a forest etc.

A low fat, healthy diet and zinc / vitamin (especially C) supplements will help you even if you enjoy a few drinks.
Drinking will affect acne as it lowers immune function etc.
The only way drinking could help is if you spilt spirits on your face......

I'm not aware of it affecting acne. I wouldn't know any way. I've pretty much had horrible acne regardless for the past few years, but now I take Accutane which has pretty much cleared that shit right up.

The primary energy-bearing constitutents of beer are alcohol and carbohydrates; beer has no fat and very little protein content. Light beers and low-alcohol beers carry less food energy than other beers [1]. Even heavier beers carry less energy per glass than, e.g., sugared cola drinks, and one study has shown that non-drinkers adding a single serving of alcohol to their diet daily does not contribute to weight gain. However, some beer drinkers consume high-calorie junk food—such as potato chips—alongside beer, while others simply drink inordinate amounts of beer.

Wikipedia doesn't lie, and it makes sense. When you're drunk and hungry, you find yourself cooking five pizzas.

I have some great stuff for acne. My sister gets it from me all the time. It comes in a little tube, and you have to pump it by hand, and drink it straight from the tap, but it is high in protein and flavour, with a slight salty taste. Swallow some, and smear the rest on your face. You'll thank me tomorrow.

Acne isn't caused by your diet, it's caused by genetics. Though apparantly you can reduce the appearence of acne by eating foods that have a lot of stuff the body requires for healing (doesn't stop it, just makes it heal quicker). The oil that your skin produces isn't the same oil that you get out of a crisp packet or whatever. There's bacteria that live on the surface of your skin that feed on the oil that your skin produces, more oil = more bacteria = more infections in your pores = more spots.

Word. Unless I miss several showers for whatever reason (usually camping or something like that) I am spotless. I eat pretty well (no fast food, lots of healthy stuff) and exercise. Go me.

I wish I didn't inherit my dads acne problems :( Granted mine aren't really bad, just some parts that will never seem to go away D:

Where can I get some of this stuff? Sounds great.

Bah, I had acne when I was a teen, and it cleared up when I started drinking. Drink is good for you. If you disagree, you're just plain wrong.

It's caused by both. The longer we eat unhealthy the more defective our genes will become every generation. I don't think your grandchildren will appreciate that very much. We can defiantly heal our genes overtime if people cared more and they weren't getting our information from people who just want to make money off sick bodies.

Your first statement was correct, the rest is incorrect.
Genes are mutated through natural coding errors, most of which are repaired by enzymes. This process is not affected by your diet.
