Benchmark Program

Is there a benchmarking program available to check how HL2 will work on your PC? Heard rumours of one. Have a P4 2.53GHz, 512MB RAM running so no problem there but graphics card is only GeForce 4 MX440SE 64MB. Want to see how good it'll work. Any ideas? Or is there another kind of test that can do to check how well it work?

there was supposed to be one released on the 30th, but it never was for some reason and valve has been keeping silent whenever someone asks. So I guess the answer to your question is Eventually.

I expected this to be release when the game was released, and as the game isnt released i'm not expecting any change.

...

i think the "some reason" was probably the other stuff valve is dealing with right now...

and we're not even positive a benchmark was going to be released anyway.

ooh noo!! he got a too powerfull comp and graphic card!! halflife2 will surely not work!! OMG OMG OMG!!

lol

i hope it will work with my celeron 800 and tnt2 32mb..

lol, warlord, you might want to upgrade...

and the g4mx isn't really a g4, so it will actually not be very good...i'd go for a dx9 compatible, you can get radeon 9700s for about $100

If the benchmark is released now, hackers who have the compiled source can easily take the models and maps from the benchmark, and then play it in their own HL2 engine (i'd guess).

That seems like a pretty good reason to delay the benchmark to me.

Good point also to the guy that has a G4MX all you really have is a G3 with some more speed. Go get yourself a 9600XT when its available.

Not really - they could only run the levels that were in the benchmark. Valve would not provide any extra stuff in the Benchmark, so what would be the point of linking the Source Code to the Benchmark graphics/sounds, except for to be able to run around the benchmark levels of your own free will? I mean if that's what gets people's jollies off, then so be it.

Chances are the game would crash if you tried to leave the benchmark boundary areas because there would be no more graphics to draw upon, no?

Perhaps I am wrong?
