How many points should I get with the setup below with say, 3D Mark 03 and/or 3D Mark 01?

Pentium 4 2.0 GHz
MSI-6339
768 MB PC800
Sapphire Radeon 9700 Pro
Win XP Pro

I have a feeling I'm not getting out all of it =/

I'd say about 5000- 6000

:) Pretty much what I get mate, and I've got:

AMD Athelon XP 2600+ @ 1916mhz
ASRock KS8X
768mb PC2700 DDR RAM
Hercules ATi Radeon 9800SE softmodded to 9800 Pro (Core clocked @ 400.5mhz Memory @ 361.5mhz)
Windows XP Pro

I'd say 5000-6000 for 3dMark03 and about 14k-16k for 3dMark01.

I say, dont trust benchmarks ;) if your games run fine, it's all good.

2.5 GHz
512 333ram
80 gig
Asus MB
Radeon 9700pro

4913 in 3dMark03

FC UH settings runs with 40fps, a few slowdowns....

id say mid 4000's to upper 4000's. with overclock you would get maybe low 5k's. the 2 ghz processer will create a minor bottleneck depending on its fsb. if you oced your 9700 than you might get better scores. like someone said though. dont count to much on benchmarks. they have become useless in the past months so it doesnt matter. it all depends on the games and how they run.

I agree, that CPU will bring your score down.

You'll be lucky to hit 5000 with that setup.

How is the CPU bottlenecking, I've a a CPU running at 1917mhz, and my system achieves 5579...

Help appriciated :D

It's not the clock speed that matters, especially when comparing AMD to Intel CPUs.

The older P4 CPUs are notorious for their sluggish performance, regardless of their 2.0GHz clock speed.

Ahhh. Is my system bottlenecking?

FSB is at 200mhz.

No, you're fine. If you were bottlenecking at all, you wouldn't have that high a 3DMark 03 score anyway

Mrbadger..you're comparing a 9800 to a 9700 ...that's crasy :p

The system of the topic starter should get at max ( because 3dmark03 is VERY GPU dependant, else he would get much lower) 4700 or something.
In 3dmark01se between 12000-13000
I almost know this for certain. ( expessialy the 3dmark03 score)

I'm not to good with benchmarks :p (oh, and I think you'll find it's Pro ;) )

Anyway.. I cba to change my Jumper settings so, at 166mhz is what my FSB will stay at :D

Whoa! Thanks for the replies :)

Well, what I do get is around 4400 with 3dmark03 and about 10000 in 3dmark01, and that's with a rather OC'd gfx as well!
Guess the CPU is the limit... :(

Thanks again guys :)

everytime i install 3dmark 2001SE it installs alrite but everytime i go to open it it crashes and gets that crappy windows error thing.
ive searched on the support faqs and found nothing for my problem.
my specs are:

intel p4 2.8ghz 800mhz fsb
1gig pc3200
hercules 3d prophet 9800 pro
120gig seagate SATA

anyone know y this is happening?

p.s sorry to go a bit off topic

what would my benchmarks be
p4 2.0 ghz
512 mb pc2700
radeon 9600 np
oh yeah and my motherborad only runs at 4x agp

i havent even benchmarked my computer for a while but hopefully i'll get somethin good outta hl2 with these specs:
2.67 ghz
9700 pro 128 mb ddr
80 gb hdd
Motherboard only runs at 4X AGP (god damnit!)
512 mb ddr
hopefully the prices will drop big time for the 9800 XT cards or maybe just save up to get the card that will include the R420

Well, I'm on an XP 2400+ with 512MB of DDR400 RAM, with an 8x AGP MoBo and a 9600 Pro... and I'm getting about 1900 in 03...

Killj00, you will run HL2 well :)

Oh, and why do people bother including their HD sizes? :p
Anyway. Don't even consider the 9800XT. Ever. Any of you.

Yeah your CPU seems to be the limit, i've got a Hercules Radeon 9700 pro non oc'ed with a xp1700@ 2100mhz and i get 4700 in 3dmark 03.

hha, hopefully hl2 will run great cause i have long awaited it and i hope i dont get the same problem that happened to me with the farcry demo...
