best budget tft ?

Without looking at specific models, I'd say Viewsonic generally has the best value or balance between picture quality/price.

What is your budget and what size are you looking at? Another 17"? Mostly games/media or do you do a lot of reading/typing on the screen?

mainly games , but i also use 3ds max and vs2005 express edition

ViewSonic tft seem to be decent monitors, either that or BenQ.

Recommend getting a monitor from a specialist as they are cheaper than brandnames, I'll find a link.

Well.. most of todays LCDs are TFT Active Matrix.
Older LCDs just had lower quality and terrible viewing angels

I have this monitor, and I can say it is wonderful. I've had it for about 5 months and have experienced no dead pixels. The response time is great, and the colors are amazing. Great buy.

I'm rocking with this monitor and I've been very happy with it so far.
other than some game developers lazy asses still not supporting widescreen... oh well.

Yeah, I've got a higher end samsung 19" and they have great color. If I was buying a monitor again and my budget was lower I'd rather get a Viewsonic since their good models are priced lower.
