I believe if you pay for a subscription at around $10 US a month you get HL2 and ALL future products as in CS2 TF1 e.t.c (sounds like a damn good deal actually) or you pay $49.99 US or whatever (I'm canadian so $69.99) and get SP and MP and dont pay to play online but HAVE to use steam to play still.

Thats how I understand it.
