Best Catalyst drivers?

I just saw someone on the irc chat recommend the following version to me (only filename sorry): 8-08-411. He claimed that these were THE drivers for performance to use with Half-Life 2. Can anyone confirm this? Also, I heard mention in the chat that both ATI and NVIDIA have just released beta drivers specifically for HL-2. True? And if so...is the one I got the one they released for it? Just want to make sure my first Half-Life 2 experience is the best one. Thanks in advance for any help.

get the beta 4.12's, they do increase performance in CCS, ive tested myself. so they should do the same in HL2.

I think the one you have is the Ati 4.12 beta(wxp-8-08-041110a-019199)...don't know about any Nvidia drivers as I have a Ati Video card.
So if you have a Ati card (better than a 9500) this is the driver to install.
Trying the VST in CS:S most people (including myself) have seen an FPS increase.

yeah I just installed those same drivers so I guess I'll have to wait and see.
