Halo needs a big tv, analogue control and rumble. Having trigger buttons to shoot is also far more satisfying than using a mouse button
Even on my 21" monitor the game felt tiny in comparison, far less impressive. A high resolution looked nice but felt too clinical, the outside areas didn't feel organic. Basically the big expansive levels and menacing Aliens had been replaced with a tiny, angular models.
Mouse and Keyboard made aiming far too easy and thus borked the balance that makes Halo great. It isn't worse using a joypad in this case ..... just harder and more rewarding.
On the pc Halo felt like just another shooter (very average) - on the XBox it's one of the best games ever made, especially in co-op (another feature that the pc lacks)
(all imo of course )
