Best Enviroment in game?

Clock Town from Majora's Mask, Windfall Island and Old Hyrule from Wind Waker.

I'm going to agree with those as well, sans MAYBE Old Hyrule. But yeah, one of the reasons that MM is my favorite Zelda was just because the entire world was so wonderfully designed.

Resident Evil 4 ... the villages were great ...
Jak and Daxter
and Metal Gear Solid 2 .... but just the tanker, god first time i played the demo i was drooling.
and last but definatly not least Halflife 2 ... i mean come on .... come on!

I was actually a bigger fan of the Island than the village.

I'll offer a different one - Metroid Fusion.

The tension was done superbly, especially when 'Adam' tells you to terminate the Nightmare, and when the SA-Xes hunt you down.

And jumping around with the Space Jump was definately awesome.

yeah the island was more traditionally resident evil ... but on pure asthetics id go for the village

Agreed about Metroid - probably the most convincing gameworld i've experienced (the music is just as good).

The first time I stepped out of the ship in Unreal I was completely blown away. It probably looks shite now, but at the time it was breathtaking.

I must admit, those regenerator bastards with their creepy breathing and walking were the scariest things in RE4...god they gave me the creeps even when I had the chicago typewriter.

Then later you find underneath it all is an MJ12 facility. Just brilliant.
I was so goddamn impressed when I realized that. I had absolutely no idea it was going to make a turn for that.

Albion was also very good. I loved the toiletplants :D
The 3D view was awesome too :D

no doubt its half life 2 hands down... The attention to detail is just phenomonal. Every area of the game tells a story. For instance you will see combine APC parked outside of a large house on the outskirts of town, they are plugged in sucking up power, there lies the charred remains of the family in a pile of ashes on the ground outside, while inside the combine raid and destroy.

Agree with you here.

City 17 is the freshest, best realized future enviroment I've ever seen in a game.

I'd have to say Infinity: The quest for Earth(A standalone game)

I mean just look at some of this screen shots:

ModDB Gallery.

Psychonauts has the most diverse, beautiful and atmospheric environment in any game.

My WoW char is a mage.

Plus I had engineering, so I could teleport to gadgetzan for aq40.

My point is, those retardedly long flights that leave you afk when you finally get to where you wanna go get old somewhere around your 20th day played. I have 90.

I have 210 :p

I'm trying to sell my account now, I was really close to selling it until the guy backed out at the last second.

Hmm, everything that I can think of has been said. what about altered destiny? at the time those environments were way cool, and freaky.

edit:

I wander what screw around means, because if it's not like a real SP 'game' with proper AI etc then I could care less really, but then again, I'll always have Frontier Elite 2 and Frontier First Encounters, best space games evar <3

No it's not an offline RPG.

FAQ said:
Will I be able to play off-line, or is this game only online ?
Although i'm currently developing Infinity as an MMO, I plan to release a special version to play and train off-line. Most of the features will be fully available in that version.

That infinity thing looks mighty impressive, but I'd have to say the jungles in FarCry for my choise.

Beyond Good and Evil was breathtaking.
I agree with alot of other games here though!

Painkiller (including Battle out of Hell) had some good environments I thought, but that's probably because they were so insane with the textures. Hell was neat, with the frozen battle scenes from different eras.
do you remember CHAPTER 04 - LEVEL 04 - FOREST that's was ultimate, Havoc II engine has suprised me.

I will go for Thief Deadly Shadows and Prince of Persia Two Thrones really really nice environment.

The Whole of Wind Waker. Graphics have yet to be bettered.

Gothic 3 is indeed beautiful, though the surrounding areas when you're far away look even shittier than Oblivions, even on maxed settings.:(

If you're talking about the blur, that's because you have depth of field enabled.

Nah not the blur in particular but the drawdistance for things etc also, like the little shack on the side near the beach of the first village, it popped up when I was fairly close to it, and I'm running the game on maxed settings.:\
