What the best hard drive around for around $60-80? Ive looked for reviews and roundups but I couldnt find much info.

It's only 40GB though. And it's still a 7200 rpm. Wouldn't it be better to get a good 60gb or 80gb hdd?

He's from canada, check out the prices. Link

If he was buying from Newegg, I'd probably suggest one of these or these.

yeah i need a anothe rhard drive..i only have a 30 gig

raptor drives are the way to go.

Canadians cant order from newegg. You should try monarch they have good prices and they ship to canada. You could also try zipzoomfly but their shipping is nearly 5 times as much to ship the same product. (brokerage fees are way to expsensive. Im not joking it will cost you 5 times as much) NCIX prices are too high and sometimes their website will say an item is in stock when it isnt. The best $80 hard drive on NCIX is 40gb. You should probably consider spending more that way you could get a 80gb for about 100-110.
Consider this drive.Link

I just got a free Maxtor 30gig 7200rpm today. My bro's friend didn't want it so he gave it to me. That will be a nice little storage drive for my new pc.

From the bencmarks I have seen there is only a 5 second difference at most between a 7200 and 10000. Usually its 2-3 seconds. Most dont think its worth the money. Now that I think about I should have just got a 7200rpm drive and saved some money. Some of the new maxtor drives with the 16mb cache look nice. But the cache doesnt seem to help that much in gaming. I wish I saw some bencharks where they loaded the same map two times in a row and tested it againts the raptor to see what the difference is. Does anyone know if theres any reviews that did that with the new maxlines? Oh and the maxlines also have native Command queing which is nice. But so does the 74gb raptor. The 36gb version doesnt though which is disapointing.

The raptor is great with loading. Idk what it does to do what it does, but the first time it loads something (which takes about 2-10 seconds) is the only time I have to wait. Any time I load the same map/level again I blink and it's there.
