I have used a number of music players, some of which are good and others of which are terrible. But I've yet to find a music player that lets me control my tunes while playing battlefield 2, elder scrolls 4, and various other games. Is there a music player that you guys use where you can listen to and control your music in any game?

It gets to be a pain in the ass switching between programs

Get a cheap, used, mixing table off Ebay.

Then you can play music without alt tabing out, and you can even turn it off on the fly.

foobar 9.2, memory is 3-5mb only. the best so far.

Yes, but can you control it while in game...

I'm interested in such a player myself, as well.

God damn it people how is someone supposed to program that?

Uh global hotkeys? Winamp has it and it should work even when in pretty much all games. Theres a bunch of normal commands you can bind to what ever you want. I only use Stop, Next track and previous track.

Depends what you mean by control. Theres only so much you should be doing whilst playing a game anyway.

Enable Global hotkeys in winamp. Then you can use Ctrl+Alt+(different key for different functions) without having to swtich programs.

I'm pretty sure source has a built in MP3 player

True, but it's a pain in the ****ing ass. Still, beats the massive alt-tab wait while playing CS:S

Winamp works for me. You simply assign the keys to whatever functions you want and press that key and that function will happen in-game :)

Lol, there IS NO alt tab wait in CSS, the shit minimizes and maximizes in half a second. BF2 has a slight wait, maybe a second or so, but still nothing. And Oblivion is pretty instant as well, however it crashes half the time when resuming.

i've tried the winamp global hot keys, but they only work in cs:source, not in BF2 or oblivion. I'll snoop around for an answer.

I tried this player while playing BF2, but still the global hotkeys didn't respond. Do you do something to make this happen?

you know what sucks? people who spam their microphones ingame with music. This happend on hidden source once for me, it was some guy doing beatbox techno. He didn't even play the game, he just sat at spawn and spammed his microphone.

It's a whole lot easier to make a simple playlist in iTunes and just set it to shuffle

You can mute people you know.

Yeah, people used to do that while playing Xbox Phantasy Star Online MMORPG. There would be someone in each lobby playing music over their mic. They would be there for hours until someone replaced them. It kicked ass, since the lobby music was utter shit.

Once you form a team and begin to fight, you just ask them to turn off their mic if they want to listen to music, or you could mute them or leave.

Very nice, minimalistic, player and it uses less than 6mb of ram while playing. :D You can set global hotkeys so you can control it in games.

Its funny, none of these players work with battlefield 2 or oblivion. i wonder if a multimedia keyboard would do the trick. unfortunantly I have a really nice gaming keyboard that I won't part with any time soon. Oh well, guess I'll have to live with it.
