As the title dictates, Tell me who is the Best Musician Of all time.

To me its a toss up between Bruce Springsteen and Bob Marley.

If you say tupac ill kill you

I agree with Tredoslop! Even though Edvard Grieg was damn good too..

No one musician has ever done enough to impress me to call them the "best musician ever"... Music is about the ensemble, never about one musician. I will say that my favourite bands at the moment are...

Anorexia Nervosa
Stormlord
Origin

You don't really say Best...It's really,"Who's the greatest"

Sorry-just had to say that...It's just 'proper' english...

heh, funny question..

it's actually a bit obtuse as well. do you mean to ask who in history we think had the greatest raw musicianship (i.e. ability to sing/play instruments)? if so, then as GV said, paganini would be up near the top of the list, along with chopin, prokofiev, miles davis, probably joshua bell, fritz kreisler, stanley clarke, frank zappa, vladimir Horowitz, bobby mcferrin, rachmaninoff and many others to be sure.

or, are you asking about the greatest creator of original music? tredoslop's choice would seem to be in response to that question. up there with beethoven one would normally put mozart and bach (with a very strong arguement to be made that j.s. bach was by far tthe most influential composer in recorded history). not much modern music could really be put in the same category.. tooo heavily derived or non-musical, imo.

What do you even know of this guy?
He's one hell of a talented guy! He can make anything from classical music to the most juicy drill'n'bass!

Ill Mitch has got to be one of the greatest recording artists of this decade.

Go download some of his songs.........and you'll know what i'm talking about ;)

Ill Mitch - Fast and Danger
Ill Mitch - Hey Ladies Fans
Ill Mitch - rap to world

go get those now.

Actually I'm a fan of his work :) I haven't listened to much but I'm catching on, and I agree he's an awesome talent. All I'm saying is the guy's insane, and an asshole, really up himself, or so I've been lead to believe. Nonetheless neither of these things make him any less of a musician :p

Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez!! ofcoz! Pure genius!

:x

Jonny Cash

Baaaah, everybody says Johnny Cash ever since he died. It's sad, isn't it? If someone suddenly dies out of nowhere, then they get even more famous than they were before...
When Johnny Cash died I remember people all over Denmark were asking for his records...EVERYWHERE! And yeah I nearly puked. The same goes for Nirvana, even though they were pretty big before that Kurt guy killed himself. It makes me fu-u-u-ucking sick!

I think bob dylan, although paul simon would be close... maybe james taylor too, then some blues artists, muddy waters maybe... there's just too many.... the cheeky girls?

Actully, I liked him before he died, and did you see hear his "hurt" cover?
Amazing.

Edit: Dr. Freeman, you're sig says NiN, Trent Reznor Reznor....

No, he means that it says Trent Reznor Reznor. There are two Reznors in there :p.

well for me it would have to be john linnell and john flansburgh, but I'm a tmbg fan so that is to be expected. of course I could always opt for lil'timmy's answer, which I'm sure he spent an unnecessary amount of time on.

best musician of all time ???...................

Tupac...lol

Trent Reznor, but only due to my overwhelming fanboyism for Nine Inch Nails. If I were to actually sit down and think about it, I'd probably say David Bowie or Maynard James Keenan (everything he touches turns to gold). Or Kirk Hammet. Or Alec Empire. Or Jerry Cantrell. Damn, this is hard...

And you people hoping for the new NIN album by Summer are being way too optimistic. This is NIN for god's sake. :) Let's look at the facts:

Pretty Hate Machine --> Broken = 2 1/2 year gap
Broken --> The Downward Spiral 3 year gap
The Downward Spiral --> The Fragile = 5 year gap

So I guess we could expect Bleedthrough around 2006 :D
