Torn between Taxi Driver and The Departed...

Ever since I can remember I've always wanted to vote for Goodfellas.

It's hrd for me to say. I like them all but I don't love any of them and I have found scorsese to be very overrated. Anyway I think i'll go with taxi driver.

I'm torn between Taxi and Gangs. But I picked Taxi wins because it was more influential.

Taxi Driver because the protagonist's name is Travis.

I want to vote Casino or Raging Bull since noone else has, but then I'de have to choose D:

Where the holy hell is Mean Streets?!

But anyway, either Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, or Goodfellas. (Going out on a limb, arent I? :p)

I also liked Casino a lot, and I was fond of The Aviator, but I haven't seen it since it was in Theaters. The Departed was great, and....

screw it. I like every one of his movies, he is my favorite director.

I voted the departed because it was made of complete win.(I'm not dissing taxi driver)

What the hell? I swear I was going to come make this thread shortly after having a Scorsese marathon this week o_O. My favorite has always been Goodfellas, as everything about it is excellent. The acting, story, naration, and even camera work are all top notch. It's very hard for me to pick a 2nd place though. I love Raging Bull, Gangs, Mean Streets, and Aviator equally.

There's a 10 options limit on the poll, in case you didn't know. I couldn't include them all, and Mean Street is hardly his most famous.

Goodfellas is actually my least favorite Scorsese film. The plot is ordinary, dull and lacks any purpose, not much different from any gangster movie we've seen over the last half-century. The characters are shallow and flat and lack any development over the course of the movie. The reason behind their acting is not explained and a lot of unmotivated and random shit happens for the sole purpose of showing some blood. I actually prefer Casino to Goodfellas, because in that at least DeNiro's acting was good. (In Goodfellas it was pretty lame tbh.)

I voted for Taxi Driver.

Yeah I realized that after I posted. My apologies.

Havnt seen all of them yet but id say Departed.

You're entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't mean I have to restrain myself from physically harming you.

I'm going to have to go with Goodfellas. There wasn't a part of that movie that wasn't awesome.

I'm surprised to see so many votes for The Departed. It was a good movie, but better than Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Casino, Goodfellas??! I'd rate King of Comedy higher.

:frown: This thread is evil, I love all the big Scorsese films! bah, I vote Goodfellas. Though they all are great

The Departed is one of my favorite films. It was sooo awesome and I wish there were more movies like it.

My second choice is Goodfellas.

Agreed. How can anyone vote The Departed as his best? They must be demented, and it's a bit insulting to the guy.

It's a carbon copy of the movie it was based on - Infernal Affairs. I watched IA after The Departed and thought it was better. Departed was just IA with Scorsese camera work.

I already know it was copied off Internal Affairs.

I still thought it was a fantastic movie.

Just saw Raging Bull, 9/10.

De Niro's performance was a thousand times better in that than in Goodfellas.

To be fair, De Niro was the primary role in Raging Bull, whereas Goodfellas was mostly through Liotta's point of view. It would be like comparing Nicholson's performance in The Shining to that in The Departed. Although, De Niro's portrayal of Jake Lamotta is often billed as the greatest movie performance in history. It would be hard to top that unless the role calls for it.

Ive only ever seen the Departed. It was good, but I havent seen any others so I cant vote :(

Goodfellas by a country mile. I honestly didn't think that much of the departed, plus it was just a remake of infernal affairs and the premise of Gangster raises child to be his police snitch was kind of incredulous. Some good acting by the chaps involved, but not enough to raise it above it's B movie origins. Goodfellas is certainly overblown in places, but it's such a finely put together/edited film I can oversee it's occasional flaws.
