Best Shootout In A Movie

Whats your favorite shootout in a movie ever? Mine is the bank robbery shoot out in Heat with al pacino and robert deniro . Greatest shootout, i loved it, perfect directing, great sense of action, you feel like your in the middle of it. And the sound of the gunfire is just soo great. I loved the movie and really loved the shootout, beats the matrix with its own dvd cover.

ive been wanting to watch heat for so long and once upon a time in america and casino, but my fav gun fight scene is in scarface "say hello to my little friend"

You know... I also was told 'Oh, Heat's shootouts are so great blahblah' and I thought like... yeah... sure.

But I bought it on DVD, just so, and BANG only with my Stereo-Soundsystem it rocks so DAMN great :D Scarface's last shootout is legendary, yes, but Heat is still more impressive, believe me, it's like Montana's rifle about 2 times plus 3-4 semiautomatic rifles more at the same time and way more realistic and louder etc.

Heat's shootout was very impressive first time I saw it, I think the sounds of the guns do have a big part to play in why it's so impressive.

:smoking: Hard-Boiled, definately. And pretty much ANYTHING directed by John Woo.

Though, Last Man Standing was an enjoyable kill fest...

All these votes for Collateral have me wanting to go out and rent it now. Didn't appeal to me from the trailers. Most of my favorites have already been mentioned...(hard-boiled,heat)

I don't know if this really fits, because its less of a gun-fight and more of a total war, (But if Private Ryan can be on the list then so can this). The "Dock" sequence in Matrix: Revolution is in my opinon 20 minutes of the greatest fightscene on earth.

Equilibrium probably makes my list as well, though I can't pick out a specific favorite sequence.

Ah, of course :D great one!

Equilibrium yeah! I've got the DVD, but never got the possibility to watch it with a really good sound system ;(

I really dig the shoot out at the Way of the Gun like someone else mentioned. And another I like is in Reservoir Dogs when Mr. Pink is by the side of the car and unloading at the cops. Really gets my blood flowing, very exciting scene hehe.

Gotta go with Hard-Boiled and Heat just like everybody else.

The end of the Wild Bunch, Hands down! No competition.

the one in Face Off where they are all in the house and theres that little kid.

Face Off reminds me, the shootout in the church- "What a predicament!"
Erm, Matrix- Lobby Scene as most others.
Im also inclined to say Leon, but thats not really a shootout, but hell, I love that movie, so yea Leon, in his apartment.

Ah yes. The best movie shootout has to be Bambi, when the hunter shoots Bambi's mother..... wait.... how does that movie go again?

As far as WWII shootouts go, I personally think that Band of Brothers is better than Saving Ryan's Privates.

Top Gun had some good action.

The matrix series had some awesome action, and the beginning of equilibrium was fantastic.

Actually, Desperado had a few shootouts. I'm not really into gunfight movies though, unless they're done well like The Matrix.

One of my favorite films: "Wild at Heart" has a great bank robbery scene where a character blows his own head off. It's so cool. :bounce:

I suppose Heat has the best shoot out especially as it goes on for so long without getting boring. The funny thing is that what sticks in my mind after having seen Heat a couple of times is the line "she's got a... greeeeat ass. An you've got your head... all the way up it." rather than the shooting.

This thread has reminded me that I need to see Boondock Saints, Equilibrium and Collateral. Thanks.

...which includes not quite a shootout :_)

All the gunfights in Collateral. I wish more directors would take the direction of realistic gunfights, I cant stand watching some of the crap in action movies now days.

:) Hell yeah, Tom Cruise looks smooth as hell when he caps people up, well in that movie that is.

Then there's Ghost in the Shell 2, where that Batou dude goes into some mafia hide out with a Light Machine Gun, just himself and like the mafian dudes shoot at him, but it's a hollogram  ! He shot them up from a different location!

but does include a faceoff

Oh I forgot, that's so cool... :hmph:

Ah, yeah! Awesome!

Matrix and Matrix Reloaded...First things that came to mind.

Like some have already said, Hard Boiled... the most insane stuff i've ever seen.

1. End of the Good the Bad and the Ugly
2. Tombstone(Daisy if you do) (I'm your Huckleberry)
3. The Killer
4. The Matrix Lobby
5. Farscape The PeaceKeeper Wars Near the end where they fight there way out of the church.
6. Saving Private Ryan Omaha Beach (but cannot watch alone)

Collateral was amazing. I was surprised when I saw it.

There were a few scenes that made me rewind it a few times. Very slick.

Trust me, they are, I've seen all of the above movies, and The Killer and Hard Boiled are masterpieces of the genre, they are the standard by which i judge all other action movies

Wow, I can't believe that Boondock Saints wasn't meantioned once.
