Best uses of music in a moive?

the opening toilet scene in Trainspotting (I think it's a Brian Eno song) ..couldnt convey a junkie POV as effectively without it

Main theme from Bladerunner ..specifically the city scene

Stuck in the middle with you - Reservoir Dogs. nuff said

Spybreak -Propellerheads ..Matrix lobby scene

the french national anthem in Casablanca

the end - the Doors in Apocolypse Now Kurtz death scene, also Wagner's Flight of the Valkyries beach attack scene

I could go on and on and on ..there's just too many to list

The peice of music that plays through Platoon all the time. Forgot its name, its a composed peice. It works best during Elias' death scene (and if you don't know what scene, you fail)

Pink Floyd: The Wall has great music, seeing that its The Wall (album) but put into a film. The Run Like Hell part of the film is great as it goes exactly with the music and the lyrics. The armed soldiers running through the streets, smashing the windows, looting, attacking the person in the car, etc. The entire movie, with the music, is excellent.

The Intro for Lord Of War

Buffalo Springfield - For What Its Worth

Adagio for strings by Samuel Barber

I knew it was 'something' for strings, I just didn't know what that something was. Thanks. :D

you're welcome. it's a really outstanding piece of music, definitely one of my favourite compositions ever. have you heard the choral version done by Sierra for homeworld? really gives the piece more of a derelict sci-fi feel :)

Oh, how in the blue bloody **** could I have forgotten about the Platoon theme?

Yo-Yo Ma's Prelude in Far Side of The World

"Brazil"'s use of the song "Aquarela do Brasil" was quite good. Created some great irony. It's also worth noting that the song is the main reason why the film is called Brazil.

The soundtrack to the beach was good and the lost boys was also quality stuff.

I can't believe I forgot Donnie Darko. As overrated as the movie is, it has some of the best songs of the 80s playing perfectly in the movie. The Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunnymen in the beginning, Head Over Heels by Tears for Fears when he arrives at school, Notorious by Duran Duran at the school talent show, Under the Milky Way by The Church at the house party, and Gary Jules and Michael Andrews' cover of Mad World by Tears for Fears at the end.

It was all incredibly perfect.

Darko's music was awesome. totally agree. overrated movie with awesome score.

Also, I liked the music from the Boondock Saints scene where he killes a guy with a toilet. I just thought it went well with how he ripped the thing out of the ground, water spraying everywhere, and then leapt off the building.

Not a lot of music can fit such a specific situation you know.

Queen- Don't stop me now

Shaun of the dead when they are beating the old man to death
