Bests of genre?- Punk

It's simple, what is your favorite punk band?

If you say any pop punk bands or other crap ones you die

I vote for Rocket from the crypt because they show an alternate to blandness that is coming from new artists

pure punk: iggy pop and the stooges, sex pistols, Ramones

punk genre mix: The Clash, the Jam, the Specials (punk/ska)

i LOVE rocket from the crypt. my fav punk band however, would have to go to the dead kennedys

I'd say for more hardcore stuff, always LOVED Minor Threat, and I like the Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols etc. As for less hardcore stuff, either newer or cross genre, i'd say Bad Religion (their older stuff; now theyre not really punk anymore but still great), the suicide machines (punk/ska) and the clash.

When its warm out I can't resist listening to Bad Religion, Rancid, and the Offspring.
Greenday has mutated beyond their punk roots I'd say, but I'm also a big fan of theirs.
None are my favorite bands, but they're the best thing to put on when you're just looking for some fun.

rancid and offspring aren't really punk anymore either, but they're both decent.

NOFX. Love their style, they don't just stick to one thing.
Less than Jake or Reel Big Fish is my favorite ska band. If anyone cares, and Im sure they dont.

I could go with a safe pick like the ramones, nofx, clash, etc. but at the moment I'd have to say either A Wilhelm Scream or Rise Against. There's not a single bad song on either of their most current cds. Rise Against's "Siren Song of the Counter Culture" has to be one of the most solid releases I've heard in a long time.
