Nickelback is a good example of suck. Or as I like to call them, "Nippleback".
 
He's the guitarist for Alter Bridge now, which is basically Creed. Same singer too.

Personally I think Alter Bridge - Blackbird is an amazing album.

Essentially, the large majority of post-grunge is mediocre to suck.

No, but it is hard to earn that speed, especially on guitar, and I have mad respect for those who can do it.
 
What music? Creed? No, they're not metal, they're grunge (or 'post-grunge' if you want to take that line). Random guitarwank exercises? Not really any genre of music; I suppose you could fit them into a metal song, insofar you could also fit them into any music that features lead guitar, like prog rock, metalcore, grunge or just a plain old rock song, and none of those genres are especially preoccupied with speed, so I don't know how 'metal' and 'speed' fit in.

No, Scott Stapp isn't in Alter Bridge- he got kicked out for being a grade-A douche. They have a singer who's actually ridiculously talented, but wastes his talent on crappy stereotypical alternative rock.

My favorite fun fact about the Creed guitarist (SINCE THERE'S SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM AND ALL) is that he was in a band with the singer of Of Montreal when they were both 13. It's weird and hilarious to think about how different the paths they ended up on were.
 
Congratulations, OP. You are entirely correct. I have never thought about how great Creed's guitarist is before.
